  1. I could almost see this looking like a Highlander "Immortal sense" in terms of camera frames and thematic sounds.

I noticed some similarities between the stories of Neo and Rand. simple beginnings, doubt, but by the end nature shapes to his will.

  3. Hey fellow WOT fans. LONG time lurker, first time poster. I've been lurking here for years, but you guys covered just about everything I could think of, so I haven't had a reason to register and post. Anyway, I vaguely remember an RJ quote from some time back where he addressed what time period the Series is set it compared to IRL time. I remember the quote being something like, "it's basically set in a time similar to _____ but without cars". That would place the setting similar to the late circa c19. But that seems late. I've always pictured it more like the middle ages. Sorry if this has been posted, but a search turned up nothing for me. Can anyon…

At first I thought Olver was Gaidal Cain, just like everyone else on the board. Timeframe doesn't work and RJ already shot it down. When RJ was asked about it, he said he was surprised it lasted this long, and said that Olver is important for another reason. He already told Mat how to get into the Tower of Ghenji, so what else will Olver do that has importance?

Hi. I'm currently on the third book and have a question. Many times in this book and the second book characters have wondered whether or not the forsaken have broken out of their prison. Where I am just now, Moiraine burst into Perin's room, seemingly shocked, announcing that one in fact is lose and ruling in Illian. My question though is, did all of the characters just up and forget the events that happened at the end of the first book? At the Eye of the World they openly fought Baalzamon and two forsaken I can't recall the names of. Rand killed one and the Green Man killed the other. Shouldn't that have been a big enough hint? Sorry if this has been asked befo…

  6. I've started listening to Eye of the World through Audible recently and am sharing it with my sons. Its just been such a weird experience to re-experience this story at this point in my life. I read the book in the early 90s while in high school. Over the years as new books came out I read them all again and then the new one....much like many of you. But, as life demanded more of me I read less often. When Sanderson finished the series I couldn't keep up. I finished the series in late 2013 while my second son slept in my lap and I cried. I identify more with Tam than I ever did and understand so much more of his perspective. Lan and Moiraine and Nynaeve…

No one is really happy with Fains ending. I think it would have been much cooler if Shaisam showed up on the battlefield while Bao the Wyld is winning. Shaisam should just be randomly attacking and converting whoever is in its way. He would be doing the most damage to the Sharans, Then the most powerful forsaken with one of the most powerful Sa’Angreal would have been forced to fight Shaisam and multiple converted Sharan channelers. Of Course Demandred would win but how damaged would his forces be from the confrontation? That could have been a much more epic ending for Fain/Mordeth/Shaisam. (another way to end Fain would be t…

Was it ever explained what the ripples were? The ones that happened to Perrin and Faile when they were separated. I've read the theory that this was the seals being broken. But that doesn't hold for me. That theory was written before the last book came out. Before it was revealed that the seals were actually still whole until the last book.

I'm guessing I'm one of the few people outside Harriet and Tom Doherty who has one of these. With A Memory of Light, it's about as complete as it ever will be. They never did the first 3 for mass consumption for whatever reason. I hope Tom Doherty eventually finishes it off but without Jordan's REAL signature (not just a photocopy) it'll never be the same of course. Enjoy, comments to follow New Spring, Legends, Lord of Chaos, Path of Daggers, and Winter's Heart are actually all LETTERED editions. The most valuable of all of them is probably my Lettered Legends since there is only 50 in existence and 11 went to the auth…

In my opinion, the mentality of the Aiel is just utter stupidity on so many levels I could write another one of my long Walls of Text about it, but I'm not up to that right now. I just have to get this one point down and out of my head before it bursts. Aiel take great pains to point out to wetlanders that Aiel chiefs are not wetlander kings, and that any Aiel can talk to their chief. To me, this implies some sort of responsibility from the chief towards his clan members (even though the chief was chosen by the Wise Ones). And it also implies that the Aiel understand that wetlander kings have no responsibility towards their commoners, and that commoners have z…

When will the Wheel of Time get a proper leather-bound anniversary editions? I would love to pay a premium for quality leatherbound editions. Hopefully Harriet and Tor will become inspired by Brandon Sandersons Dragon Steel editions: https://store.brandonsanderson.com/signed-books/?price_min=81&price_max=100&sort=featured

I think it’d be interesting to have the stories reorganized into individual books that exclusively followed 1 character from the beginning of their story arc to the end. a fun way to re-read the series. all the appropriate chapters gathered and combined into one book. Or in some cases, a series of short stories when following various minor characters. Thoughts ? ? who’s arc would you most want to have a complete read through of?

Not sure if this has been asked or not, but in TFOH how did Lanfear not know who Avi was? She certainly should of known who Egwene was. She was lurking about the tower when Egwene was there, as Silvie she tried tricking Egwene in the world of dreams, and told Rand about her having dreams of Galad and Gwayne. So she certainly should of known Egwene when she attacked them at the docks.

I've been working on a project to set the poetry and songs of the Wheel of Time to music. I have a number of pieces written and I can sing some of the parts, but I don't have anybody to play with. Are there any musically inclined fans (especially in the Seattle area) who are interested in getting together to play some of these? Let me know if you're interested and what you sing/play, and we can plan from there ? Hey all, I noticed this a while back, and there is a good chance that it is coincidental, and maybe it's because I'm an art student that I see more into this than I should, but doesn't the Island of Tar Valon and its surrounding landscape greatly resemble female genitalia? Now before you excuse this idea as craziness, I think it makes sense symbolically to have an city ruled by the greatest world power - the White Tower - made up entirely of women that reside on an Island resembling a vagina? In a sense, it is the ultimate symbol of female power. And indeed, the world bends knee to Tar Valon... Thoughts?

  18. For him to actually break through? You would think pretty big for a cosmic embodiment of evil/chaos/destruction/whathaveyou, but when Rand pulls him out during AMOL, he's described as small as a bird. So how big would that hole have had to be? Or was there something else binding him that had to be destroyed first?

  19. Yeah, basically the topic says it all. If you were to go around to look at the back of a Gateway, the side opposite where everyone comes out, what would you see? I can't remember if this was ever addressed in the books or not, and if so, how. While I'm asking silly questions, how did Ba'alzamon kill all the rats in Baerlon? Did he do it somehow from the Dreamshard he had the boys in? Did he leave the 'shard to come to Baerlon in the flesh and then channel the backs broken of all the rats? What gives here, or is this just another of the wonky ways the early books don't match up to the rest in how magical stuff works?

So on the way to Tear in The Dragon Reborn, Rand decapitates some random woman. I know she and her companions were actually darkfriends, but my questions is how the heck did Rand know that? I mean at that point she'd basically just been like "Hi." and he pulls a Queen of Hearts on her.

While re-listening to the Great Hunt I was at the part where Lan tells Rand about their ancient power wraught swords and i was thinking... is it possible that Rands 3,000 yr old heron mark blade is also Lews Therins blade from 3,000 yrs ago? its not ever specifically said one way or the other, but I was thinking that it’s just the kind of thing the pattern likes to do. Plus at this point in the story all things that were the dragons are coming back to the dragon...

  22. So The Dark one (Shai'than) appears on the prologue chapter in book 1 as it takes place in the age of legends after that through the first book and the next two it was Isamael that Rand and co thought the dark one was. So when does the dark one actually appear in the series? I don't want any spoilers. I know eventually Rand would fight the dark one in the end of the final book but I want to know about which book the dark one actually appears in (he breaks out of shayol Gul? or actually appears in dreams and stuff instead of Ishamael?).

Let's try this again. The knife blade is carbon steel and is 12" long. The handle is 6" long and made of trolloc bone. Almost long enough to be a short sword (but it is not a sword). And for those that didn't see the spears when I first posted last year... The spearheads are 12" long including the socket and the handles are an additional 30". I still need to make the shield.

  24. So at one point, Liandrin starts using the power on Rand to get him to tell what he was wiping off the walls (though why she needed him to do it is anybody's guess). About a half a second later, she drops the power and Moraine walks in. Given what we know about women sensing the power, how come Moraine didn't sense that Liandrin had channeled very recently? Even if she didn't know exactly what she had done, she probably would have had some questions and I doubt that she didn't know she had been doing more than channelling light.

What will become of them? Will they remain in the territories they have conquered, or will the Westlands (and maybe the Aiel) combine to throw them out back to where they came from? I really can't see the Seanchan winning if this happens, as the Westlands will have both Aes Sedai as well as Asha'man. The Seanchan will only have damane. Or will there be a compromise? The Seanchan agree not to bind channelers anymore, and send them to the white/black tower when they are found? This could result in the channeling organizations leaving them alone at least.

The title says it all, really. What was your favorite single chapter in the series? Why? As for mine, it's WH39, the cleansing. The rapidfire POV changes just seemed to be perfect for the scene. It just seems to capture the panic and confusion and HOLY **** THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING aspects of the cleansing perfectly.

  27. I was thinking about that fight in the sky at the end of the book..... Perhaps this has been though of and addressed before, I didn't search too hard.... Anyway, Is Rand's soul one of the Hero's souls tied to the Horn of Valere? If the Horn summons Hero's from the dream world and the fog or mist they seem to come out of is like a pathway between the dream world and the real world, could it be that Hero's currently living in the real world could access this foggy pathway as well? Does the summoning go both ways? This could explain the battle in the clouds between Rand in Ishamael. Rand was basically summoned to the Horn of Va…

  28. People always attribute Rand's effect on the land to him being Ta'veren, but that doesn't quite make since. Ta'veren effect odds. They can't make something that is impossible happen. For example, Mat can effect how a dice is rolled because it's purely ods, but he has less effect on cards because it's less based on odds because a person is doing the shuffling and each person might shuffle different. So the odds change from person to person. Rand's connection to the land literally makes dead things come back to life. Like the apple tree in the prologue of....I forget which one it was in. Rand literally changes reality, That can't be because o…

Hi guys, just new here today. I have managed to buy the first 11 books of the series with the black cover wheel and snake. Funnily enough I found book 11 in a Fijian second-hand store in good condition ! Tried e-bay ( need to buy the whole set or in poor condition ) and a few other online bookstores. I am desperate to fine the last 3 books with the same covers to complete the set. Pedantic I know but am sure others here have done the same. Edward

I have seen several lists that rank channeler power levels and I wanted ask the opinions of the other members of this site. At her full potential, who is considered to be as strong as Nynaeve Al'Meara? Ishmael and Rand/Lews are stated to be the strongest, and Lanfear is stated to be second only to Ishmael. So what about the other Forsaken as well as the most powerful channelers of the current Age? Is Nynaeve just one level below Lanfear? What do you think?
