This thread is to speculate what form the Dark One would take when he comes out. Some sites suggested Shaidar Haran. Some suggested Padan Fain. To me it cannot be Fain because of Moridin wanting him dead (Winter's Heart Chapter 13). These to me would be some possibilities: -some body newly dead (not necessarily human body) -a Shadowspawn -some Darkfriend (most likely a channeling one) -a mix of bodies (likely dead ones and/or with a darkfriend channeler in them) -some miasma created entity

Hey, does anyone have accurate lyrics to "A Theme for the Wheel of Time" for Robert Berry's Wheel of Time CD? Even if you're just guessing, it'll be better than my guess. I can't find the lyrics anywhere. Thanks, Bryan

Ok, in EotW (Book 1) the party runs towards Tar Valon and they get pushed hard by Halfmen and trollocs. They find themselves forced to enter Shadar Logoth. Now, I wonder about that. They ride and ride through the forests and onto fields but they don't see the bloody city until they crest that final hill?! And Rand exclaims thinking it the biggest city ever and the description of it makes it MASSIVE by any standard. Wouldn't this city have been visible from.. Seanchan?! have any of you thought about this? And I have a feeling that it isn't the only place where the characters in this awesome saga come upon super large structures totally uaware of them eventho ..…

Hey im new to this whole site, but after re-reading the books again I just got the impression that the prophecy saying something like, he who is dead yet lives, refers to the children Aviendha, Elayne, and Min will have. Elaynes already preggers, Aviendha probs is, and it wont be long before Min is too. It explains the prophecy and also makes a lot of sense...

Dable Bros. has said they want the fan sites to be the release of all the big news bits on the WoT Comics. That being said how about you guys contact then and Tor and get the standard Cover Art + first 5 page preview that is kinda standard for release a few weeks before the issue hits the shelfs and put it up here. Normaly I would expect it on Newsarama but Dable has made it clear that Tor isn't allowing them to release anything that way. Darth_Andrea

as we all know, the dark one can revive people who are dead (excluding those who are balefired). we know that balefire rips ppl off the pattern. so what does death do? i mean, sure, dead people come back later because of the wheel, but, what does it mean in terms of the pattern for the dark one to revive people at his will? is this ability limited to those who walk in the shadow? or are there any limitations at all?

Elza the Green Aes Sedai gets hit by this blinding realization that Rand has to live to the Last Battle to face the Dark One. It doesn't make much sense, considering that the Forsaken were ordered to stop him, capture him or kill him. Couldn't Verin have something to do with this intense belief. I mean, after all she used a weak form of Compulsion on Beldeine to make her serve Rand.

When Semirhage is found hiding with the Seanchan, and she blows off Rand's hand with the fireball, why doesn't Rand just balefire Semirhage? This would go back in time for a bit, and possibly, let him regain his hand.

Everyone has accepted that Galad loves Egwene - the whole I love my brother's lover thing - but when is it actually mentioned in Galad's POV that he cares anything for Egwene? He's just flirted with her at the tower. Gawyn's the only one who is assured that Galad loves the woman he himself loves. Elayne says in FoH that Galad had a crush on Nynaeve. So who does the most handsome dude in Randland really love? Any views?

As I've been re-reading the series for the 5th time I've noticed a few little things that I hadn't on the previous four reads. I figured I'd post them to see if anyone else noticed them as well. When Min views one of the AS in Salidar I believe, she sees ravens that she says seem like tattoos. Naturally my first thought was the raven tattoos that the deathwatch guard and seekers have, but as far as I know no AS has been taken by the Seanchan except to be damane. With the foreshadowing we've had of a truce between randlanders and Seanchan in book 12 I wonder how the AS will end up with her tattoos? Also, in book 6 Rand makes a quick reference to TAR when he talks…

first of all, shouldnt the link between mat and the horn be broken since he "died" in rhuidean? but i guess no one except the presumed good guys know about this... however, lanfear did mention breaking rands ward that guards his dreams in tSR. if this happens, there is a very very very feeble chance of someone knowing about the horn. secondly, does "abandon half the light to save the world" mean that mat would actually become kind of a darkfriend, i mean, lanfear and rand could "supplant the great lord and challenge the creator"- as lanfear puts it - with the choedan kal (was that the proper spelling?). if that was a possibility, then such a chance might come to mat…

Call me a heretic or whatever, but do you guys think that even such a great writer as RJ could manage to put all loose threads together in one last book? I know BS is writing the book, but it was RJ that thought it out. Btw, I am Cockta, but I call myself Builder now because of my long lasting relationship with city building simulation games ;)

i was just thinking about the battle between moggy and nynaeve. it would be really boring if you weren't an aes sedai seeing that. i mean really. two women staring at each other and focussing really hard on one another. if i was a joe randlander and happened to walk in on that, i'd be like ummmmmmmmm ok. i guess all battles can't be exciting.

Brandon Sanderson said in his web site that he is up to 436,000 words which I think makes this the longest book in WOT. He expects the length to climb to about 640-680,000. He suspects it may be split but states he has no control over that. However he is furiously finishing a revision of his first 436.000 words with line edits from Harriett. Harriett has given him a firm deadline of April to finish the rewrite which is 33% done and has been ongoing for about a month. Reading between the lines, it certainly sounds suspicious this much of AMOL will be book 12, with book 13, covering Tarmon Guidon, hopefully, following soon. Will there be an announcement at Jordan.con …

now that saiden is clean male channelers will live for centuries. Aes sedai retire into the kin and keep the 3 oaths. doesnt this put them at a huge disadvantage, against their male counterparts. we know the oaths shorten their lives, but will being released from the oath give them back the extra time that they would have lost? no matter what egwene thinks, I cant see her making Aes Sedai keep the oaths. it seems like an impediment, where all u get is make sure they doent lie, but you can make the arguement that a purposeful half truth is the same thing as a lie, distorting the truth

Let's assume that the Tower remains intact after the Last Battle, with Egwene as Amyrlin (although the former, at least, seems rather questionable, given how many institutions have fallen in previous cataclysmic events). Historically, Sitters have almost always been Aes Sedai for at least fifty years before being chosen; I am assuming that, after the Tower is re-unified (and the too-young Sitter conspiracy ended), this custom will continue to hold. In this scenario, well before Egwene reaches retirement age, most of the Sitters under her will have been novices while she was Amyrlin. Moreover, Egwene seems to be becoming a legend among the novices. How will this …

I'm just curious as to what crazy ideas any of you Dragonmounters have about the series. Crazy meaning they go against the traditional idea of what will happen. I think the only one I have is that I believe this turning of the Wheel will be different in that the Great Lord will be defeated. I know I'm crazy, and I know I'm wrong, but it's a nice idea to have until the books prove me wrong.

Something I've noticed that seems interesting, is that crimes did happen in the Age of Legends. Prisoners were bound as a result. Its a quote from Book Six or Five (I believe Lord of Chaos but I'm not 100% sure) when Sammael asks if the rulers of Shara also bound themselves like criminals? I never understood the quote until now. He wasn't talking about physical bindings, he was talking about being bound by an Oath Rod. The reason I believe this is because one of the Forsaken (the one who was torturing the Aes Sedai and her warder. Mesaana I believe) thought on how she liked to take people to the brink of death before healing them. And how she was denied this by the A…

Which main characters do you think have seen and interacted with each other the least amount? I'm thinking perrin and elayne. it seems to me that there isn't many times in the series that they're together other than when they're both in tear in tDR.

I am a commercial truck driver. In my travels I have come across several places named Mountain Home, one of which is in north Carolina. I've been reading the books since just before the release of the Dragon Reborn in hard back, so been at it a while. When I first saw the name of the town, it was just after I'd heard of Mr. Jordon's passing. I immediately thought, 'What a great place to have the release of the last book. Maybe we could even convince the town to rename itself Manethren for the event.' I know there are several of you who are more closely involved than I am. Perhaps if you think it is a good idea you could run with it and get the publisher and his widow invo…

This thread is to talk about the tavern and about who relates to them (by blood and/or by marriage and/or by bonding), also about who can relate to them by same means. The 3 taveren are Rand, Mat, and Perrin. All born in the same year. Rand's biological parents are Tigraine and Jandiun. Tam Althor adopted him and raised him with Kari his wife; I take Tam married her a few months before finding Rand. Mat and Perrin were raised by their biological parents. Perrin was the first to marry of the 3. He married Faile. If Rand's situation with Elayne/Aviendha/Min was a marriage, Rand would be the second. He at least becomes a father through at least Elayne &am…
