Now, i'm not knocking the body-swap theory at all because honestly, none of us know, however I was thinking and I wonder if we've missed a bit of the picture here. When Rand seizes Saidin, he sees Moridin, and vice versa, hence the body swap theory, seeing as Rand is heading swiftly towards crippledom and they seem to have 'connected' themselves when their balefires touched in what was Shadar Logoth. But Moridin isnt the only person Rand can 'see', he sees Mat and Perrin simply by thinking about them... Is it possible that all four are going to be linked somehow? I can see the logic in our three boys 'seeing' each other - who needs walkietalkies at TG when…

The contrasts between Rand and Galad are very interesting and serve to show how if Rand is the supernatural answer to the shadow, Galad is the mortal one. Rand being the unwilling hero of the light Galad being the very willing hero of the light Rand having two mothers, Galad none Galad’s one love loves his brother, Rand has 3 lovers This could go on for a while, but despite all of it Galad is the beacon of what is good in humanity, my prediction is that Galad will actually become the downfall of the dark one, as he represents the purity of the light in the book. Aka Scorned by the world, yet still willing to fight for the good = messiah like fi…

Not sure if this has been hashed or not (Yes I didn't bother looking things up) but I was reading through the books again and noticed Perrin's first encounter with the 'Prophet' masema. During their encounter Masema seemed unusually pleased about the prospect of being brought to rand and perrin also seemed to pick up a funny smell as well. Anyhow, I think that once masema is brought to Rand, Perrin needs to be there to save him the next time because only Perrin has a nose for how Masema's moods shift and will be able to sense that he's about to do something. Again, just a thought and it's prolly already been hashed before.

I believe it was on Robert Jordan's blog and the farewells that many left on there that I found the idea for this topic. Wheel of Time is obviously a part of all of our lives here at Dragonmount, and we all like the series, or we wouldn't be here discussing it every other day. I was also wondering, after reading many farewells and condolences, how Wheel of Time has inspired you in your lifetime? I found one prime example of how the Wheel of Time affected someone, and inspired someone. Some man who had been reading Wheel of Time since its release eventually bought his own horse barn and I believe owns a few horses. He says the main reason for this was the Wheel of Tim…

to begin with, i have heard multiple times that most people don't like the original cover art. i've always thought that the swedish versions look alot better. maybe i'm biased. but now that i'm re-reading them, i've started to try to analyse the covers as well as the titles and see what it really is. some are easy to see, others not so much. so if anyone cares i'd like to share them whit you to analyse them together. as said in previous topics all books except for New Spring are divided in to two books. The Eye of The World part 1: Farornas Väg the title roughly translates to something like "The path of danger." i don't know if it means anything,…

I was wondering on how large Randland is, and how large the entire planet is, in kilometers. How heavy is cuendillar anyways, and what is the population of Tear? These are just some questions that popped in my head. How do we know how long it is from Cairhien to Tar Valon, or from Tar Valon to Caemlyn?

Sort of a simple question, but I couldn't remember it or find it with a quick perusal of KoD. After the cleansing of Saidin, Narishma (I believe) still has Callandor, but Cadsuane mentions taking the Choedan Kal and putting them in her saddlebags, as I recall. Did Rand ever get those back? I can't imagine he didn't, but I also can't remember him ever thinking "out loud" about it, or mentioning either of them.

I'm plodding my way through book 11, and yesterday I read the bit where Galina meets Perrin, after Gaul and Neald capture her. Now, Berelain mentions Annoura, and the other two AS in the camp (... Masuri and Seonid?) but for obvious reasons Galina says she doesnt want to meet them. For me, this is another frustrating bit. Firstly, of course Perrin knew Alyse was a fake name - it's the name Moiraine used to use. Secondly, Annoura is rarely not present when Berelain is in meetings like this - what are the chances that THIS TIME she's not there? Its all a bit too coincidental for me. A bit too frustrating. Also, someone asked in a different thread about how…

I'm not asking in a kind of 'I don't recognise the name' way, more in a 'which book was it in' way: Sebban Balwer Asunawa Talmanes Rolan Fen and Blearic (Joline's warders) Lady Shaien ... I'm sure there's more, but these ones for now?

Angel of Death here after a long absense. I was wondering under what conditions an Amyrlin can be removed from office. Elaida moved against Suian because she believed she was pulling the strings on Rand (not completely untrue). We also know that the last Amyrlin to be deposed (Bonewhin?) was so because she tried to use Hawkwing. So if Suain was 'legally' removed, wouldn't that make Elaida the rightful Amyrlin (even though she is a terrible one). I can't think of much difference between the two removals. Could someone please clarify.

Get tired of reading this series!? I'm reading book 11 for the first time and I am enthralled all over again. Egwene is in the tower, Beonin is a traitor, and Perrin is meeting with the Seanchan. Perhaps it's because i've never read this book before, because apart from the very ending and what happens with Malden, I dont know what happens? Just two questions - one: who, if not Sammael (I dont believe he's alive), sent the Myrdraal and the Trollocs into the Ways? Demandred? Two: when did Mat get portly!? Moridin shows an image of Mat and Perrin to the other forsaken, and Mat is described as 'not quite slender'. I've got him down as thin as a whippet :D…

So who do you think is the pound for pound best fighter in WoT when they're not using the One Power. There are several candidates for this....whether it be blademasters or Aiel or whatever. Lan Mandragoran. He's obviously one of the best. He beat Ryne in NS, who was even better than Lan himself. He's beaten Toram Riatin as well, and was Rand's first and only teacher, which has obviously helped Rand considerably. He has tons of experience against shadowspawn. Then of course you have Rand, who is dangerous with his hands as well as his sword, as seen in the Lord of Chaos. He beat Turak (who was decent, even though Rand had the help of the void) with a relatively s…

Upon re-reading this series there have been many moments that I teared up as well as giving me shivers. But no other scene has touched me more than this one in Knife of Dreams. The Golden Crane, Chapter 20 I believe. This is where Nynaeve drops Lan off in the Saldaea then proceeds to a Tavern to inform them that Lan will be riding towards Tarwins Gap to Shayol Gul and she wants to know if he will ride alone. ( Holy Crap , just writing that gave me shivers) I have read that chapter so many times and it never gets old. What's Your favorite scene.

despite what some people in WOT think, inability to lie is not the same as inability to break a promise whether i't intentional or not, right? what would happen if an AS made a clear promise (i promise i will do this by that time) and then try to break that promise?

Surprises me that the Forsaken are so shocked about the Aes Sedai/Warder bond. After all during their time there was the Fade/Trolloc bond. Which seems to be similiar. I have wondered how close those 2 bonds are. Sure in their day Aes Sedai were respected so the thought of a Aes Sedai needing a protector would be strange. After all if a Fade dies linked to trollocs all the trollocs die. If an Aes Sedai dies then her wader usually loses wil lto live and goes off and dies. We know the benefits the Aes Sedai gets from the bond and unlikley anyone has studied what benefit if any the Fade gets. And beides controlling the Trollocs who knows if they get anything …

I seem to have noticed something totaly overlooked by the WoT fans in my school. Moraine is part of Rands family. Not blood related but Rands mother was married to Taringail Damodred whos half sister is Moraine Damodred. Rands true father actualy lead the Aiel who killed Laman Damodred who would have been Rands "uncle"? So maybe there was something a lil deeper that the chance Moraine Damodred was in the chamber when Gitara Moroso had her foretelling that Rand had been born which sent her on her way to finding Rand and guideing him. I dont know but it seems more then coincidence that the Damodred family is mentioned so much and nothing is really said about it. Oh and Gala…

I'd searched Forum to find an answer, but couldn't. My memory of books also makes little help - so I want to ask the masses ;) Who made the weaves that were protecting Callandor before Rand took it? Do we have any ideas how they worked (e.g. why Rahvin wasn't able to take it himself, but Rand was)? Again sorry if it was discussed here previously. A link, then, please? :)

I was just wondering. RJ describes the accents of pretty much all of the nations. Illianers kinda sound like pirates to me. Amadicians talk like everything is a question sometimes. ( you will agree, yes? ), and etc. etc. So, the Forsaken, seeing how their original language is the old tongue they must have had t learn it when they broke free of their prison or something. but i was just wondering what their accent would be like when speaking the common tongue. i'm just scraping for things to talk about now lol. what do you guys think?

I believe that Rand will be killed at Shayol Ghul, but by this time Lews Therin Talamore will have taken control (cause honestly Rand doesn't know enough to fight a world war against the shadow whereas LTT has already done it and as such he will seize control when the conflict comes around). This also goes with Mins prediction "three women standing over a funeral bier with you on it" but LTT is the one that actually dies, Rand is somehow resurrected on the funeral bier which is supported by ""I saw you and another man. I couldn't make out either face, but I knew one was you. You touched, and seemed to merge into one another, and....one of you dies, and one doesn't." …

Could the 'odd' thing about Aviendha's children (according to Min's viewing in Winter's Heart) be that they are dragons ???? The Aiel are the 'People of the Dragon', and the sign of the Dragon is a serpent, so perhaps something occurs at the Last Battle which changes Rand in some Robin Hobb way. Then Avienha's children could be healthy, if odd, if quadruplets. This theory could also shed light on many of the prophecies concerning Rand, the Aiel, etc.

Which major cities will destroyed in A Memory of Light? I'd say that Lugard, Jehannah, and Far Madding are locks to be sacked and burned. I'd also think that at least one Border capital and one Seanchan held city will be destroyed.

At about the start of book 10 we first start to see ghosts making appearances. It's suggested it happens randomly across the world. My idle thought while reading was, how many ghosts appeared in or around trolloc lairs and cookpots, and how many trollocs must be going insane searching everywhere for that man they just saw? Surely the bad guys would be seeing them as well as the good.

I'm sure this topic has been done before, but I can't find any recent incarnation, and Brandon Sanderson's notes on the characters made me think about the growth of each character through the series, so here's my thoughts to get things started; Rand - Not sure what you are doing reading the series if you don't like the main man! He has many issues, sure, but the way RJ developed Rand from the naive farmboy to the hardened leader of men he is now was brilliant. Perrin - The transformation into Lord Perrin and battling the Trollocs are some of my fav chapters, however Perrin is a tad simplistic, and like many others I do not like Faile which can't help but impact…

Hey, I recently found out that Universal has acquired the rights to a WoT movie. I'm STOKED! So stoked, in fact, that I've been imagining who would do well in which role. Here's what I've thought up so far: Rand al'Thor: Heath Ledger would have been GREAT, I think, but Jensen Ackles would do well, too. He has the intensity and versatility to play a man on the brink of madness, I think. As for the height issue, if they made John Rhys Davies look like a dwarf in Lord of the Rings, adding a few inches onto mr. Ackles won't be a problem. Matrim Cauthon: Shia LeBouf. Before you all lynch mob me, think about it. He can pull off the trickster pretty well, and…

How Moiraine knew Min? I seem to remember that when they first went to Baerlon, it's remarked that Moiraine is already talking to her? I presume that Moiraine met her previously sometime, I dont remember it being a 'new' acquaintancy (not sure if that's a word, if not I just invented it)...? Is it mentioned anywhere?

I thought of what inspiring music I would use to get the moral of the soldiers before they go out to war, and I believe fast and agressive music is the best. If I had the chance, I would use Hatebreed, and other bands to make my soldiers go You get what I mean. It would better the odds! What do you guys think? Edit: That kind of language is not allowed here.
