ANSWER 1: This was a test "under the Light" to see who was telling the truth. The Light decided that Galad was in the right. He could have been using a jack knife and he still would have won somehow. ANSWER 2: Galad was destined to win. It was written into the lace of the pattern that he would win and take over the leadership of the Whitecloaks while wearing the heron-blade sword (just like his half brother who was destined to be the dragon reborn). You can't change destiny. ANSWER 3: Either Galad had a very lucky day or Valda had a very unlucky day. Stuff happens. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. EDIT: or, maybe Galad has some of Mat's luck? Or…

So if the DO could taint Saidin and the wheel is one eternal round couldn't he decide to Taint Saidnar this time around and completely flip flop the dogma against Male Channelers? any thoughts on this?

  5. The act of traveling using the True Power is when you rip a hole in the Pattern. In theory that means that extensive traveling using the True Power could have the same effects as balefire, or it may not, as the Pattern may rush into the hole to heal it, just like if you punch a hole in a boat. What is balefire? It appears to be the most destructive force other than the Dark One himself. About the Dark One, he appears to be the complete opposite of the Creator. How is this possible? Why would the Creator create such an evil being. 'Cause he's whack dats why!!!!

Although, she would never admit to it. She's always going on about "her people" of Emond's Field, and how she's worried that the place won't be the same without her there to keep things in order. Bah. She's glad to be gone. If she had stayed there she would have ended up a stale, old maid who never did anything exciting or fun or even challenging. Look at the adventures that she has had since she decided to join the team. Egwene openly admits that she craves the adrenelin rush...Nynaeve keeps trying to deny it or at least give the impression that she would rather be back in Emond's Field heading up the Women's Circle and making sure that the Town Counsel doe…

Here is my not-so-crazy-if-I-say-so-myself opinion on the situation with Moraine. 1. Moraine obviously did not die when she and Lanfear went tumbling through the door frame. I think people assume this because the door melted and Lan’s bond was transferred to another Aes Sedi, however, this is why those theories are wrong. a. Moraine had told Lan that she had made preparations for his bond to be transferred upon her death, and I believe even jokingly threatened to do it before her death, which is the important part. b. Before Moraine tackled Lanfear and tumbled through the doorway with her, she channeled. Everyone assumes that she was doing something against Lanfear,…

I was thinking about getting a vanity plate for my car but I am not quite settled on one in particular. The three I am thinking about are SHIRAK (From Dragonlance), VLR MRGS (From ASoIAF), and LRD O KAS (From Wheel of Time). Let me know what you think and if you come up with any others.

ladies and gentlemen, who do you think will win??? Mashadar, with the ability to destroy humanity from the inside out, or the Dark One, with thousands of followers and the ability to still mother nature and to taint the one power, the power source of the Wheel itself??? It's so close, either could win. you could cut the tensiion with a butter knife. Who do ou stand for?!?!?!

Going over some of the older books and came to COT where perrin and co run into a very large (50) pack of darkhounds who are heading south hunting someone. Has there been any consensus on who the target is? They apparently have been at it a long time without success according to the Aes Sedai there, but who are they aiming at and why is it taking so long? The only people currently south of Perrin's position at this point that we know are Mat and company, but since they cannot travel, I can't see why they would be such hard targets for the Darkhounds to track. Is there any consensus on this?

In TGH Moiraine vanishes for a time and lan explains it to Rand as saying moiraine needs to be alone sometimes, does anyone know where she went/goes and why? Im firmly in the moiraine is not black ajah camp but her disappearence in TGH coincides with Ingtars and they return at roughly the same time. coincidence? Please help as i would really like an answer to where she goes and why she has to be alone. Im sorry if this has been discussed before but everytime i do a re-read it gets my attention and i keep meaning to post it here. If there is a link to where this has been discussed before i'd be grateful or if not all theories welcome. P.S. sorry about the spellin…

I don't remember reading about any rabbi's or priests or whatever in the books. It seems the only moral education the people get are from the gleeman's tales. The people say catacisms about their beliefs. It just seems strange that there are no evangalists other than Masema. ??? ::) :-\

Does anyone know the combined word count for WOT books 1-11? Can you point me to a source for it? For what I'm working on I need more than a blog/thread in which someone just makes a guesstimate. I haven't had any luck with google searches nor searching dragonmount. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Marvin

  17. Rand, Mat, and Perrin have come in contact with many, many people in their travels over the past couple of years. When they are around, strange things happen because of the ta'varen affect. When the move on, do things go back to normal? Did all of the people who just had to get married when Rand was in town all get a divorce as soon as he left? Or is it like a cold virus that takes a while to wear off? Or is it permanent...once you get ta'varened you are changed for life? I've thought many times that Elayne and Gawyn might have had much different lives if Rand had never fell off the wall. Anybody know for sure how long the effects last?

when was it created. i've been thinking since the one power is an unlimited source u can create heaps of things like them and link and increase it therefore they could of un tainted sadin themselves. they certainly had the knowledge.

  19. He's one of my favorite characters. Kind of a father figure. Actually, I guess he is a father to Zarine/Faile. We'll blame her on the mom. Anyway, it's kind of like the guy who helped chase Fain to Falme (Ingtar?). It hurt to learn that he worked for the shadow. Bashere helped Rand...alot...physically and mentally. He trained troops. He fought the Seanchan. He gave good counsel whether Rand listened or not. The way RJ describes him makes me like him. CRAP!!! SHUCKIES!!! :o ::) :o ::) :o In a different post, I said that the writers for Monk like to send me down a false trail then sneak in a sleeper as the real bad guy. I sure hope it's not Davram…

I read an old interview with RJ. Someone asked if Thom's knives were made with the One Power because there was blue flashes of light "off screen" when Thom fought the Myrddral. RJ said Thom's knives are not made with the One Power. He went on to say that the blue flashes of light occured before Thom reached the Myrddral. So what happened?

So, humanity seems relatively certain in their assertation that the One Power has two halves, but that assertation has always bother me... after all its not like we have a third sex, so how can we be certain that their arn't other powers in the Power? Certainly we have seen effects that arn't the work of the One Power, like Ogier Treesinging, or the Nym's... 'treedancing'?. Is that the work of a third power? The other issue that has always troubled me is the function of certain ter'angreal. We know ter'angreal as a whole use the power, and yet we have seen numerous ter'angreal function without any access to the power--not weaves, not the sensation of drawing on the p…

The grandma who took over the novices with the rebel AS. Will she move to the forefront later? Wasn't she part of Nynaeve's accepted test? We haven't heard a lot about her directly but she's in position to be a "surprise star" of AMoL...maybe?

Ok, as RJ has made clear channelers either channel innately or must be taught to channel. I have a few questions about them. Are there more sparkers or learners? I get the feeling that learners are more prevalent. Strength wise, sparkers or learners? At the beginning I got the feeling (from the 3 wonder girls and Rand) that sparkers were stronger but Sharina seems to have thrown this in doubt.

Do you feel that the relationship between Rand and his three women are equal? Are they all treated the same? I personally do not think so. I do not understand why it seems that Min is his favorite. He keeps her close by and acts like he NEEDS her so much more than the others. I understand that her viewings are an advantage to him but it just seems that she is favored. For example Rand was able to send Aviendha away from him but not Min? I guess I do not like Min as much as I like the other two girls. Why? One reason would be that when Rand and Elayne were "together" for the first time and Min and Aviendha were off getting drunk to numb the sensation of Rand and Elayne Min…

I'm reading LoC at present and this time around have taken a particular interest in the Forsaken as for the last 3 reads of the series i've always focussed on the main 'good' characters. I just read Sammael's POV when meeting with Graendal, at the time in the story where Rand has his army massed ready to strike at Illian, and Mat has just set off with the Band marching towards the city also. The section mentions that Graendal, before becoming known as Graendal the forsaken was basically a revered psychologist, and I wondered if we had found out what the others used to be before being one of the Chosen became a full time job?

  29. My spelling might be off (sorry). It seems to be totally accepted on DM that Moridin is Ishmael reincarnated. I know this is a ton of circumstantial evidence. Has it actually been confirmed by RJ? Or a POV that I missed that says "boy I'm glad I'm not Ishmael any more"? Kind of hoping for a RAW response to this one...he has a way of cataloging the quotes. :)
