  1. I'm currently reading The Dragon Reborn, and near the beginning Siuan muses that if anyone found out what she was doing (hiding and enabling Rand), she would be stilled before sunrise. I don't get this. It's common knowledge that the Dragon is needed to fight the Dark One at Tarmon Gaidon. When Rand was born, an Aes Sedai with the Foretelling Talent said the true Dragon Reborn is now among us. So why did Moiraine and Siuan need to do all their work in secret? Why wouldn't all the Aes Sedai (even the Reds) cooperate in enabling Rand to save the world?

I just finished my umpteenth re-read of KOD, when something occurred to me. Taking a look at some major military forces in the books The Band- In Murandy Borderlanders- In Andor, marching south, w/ many AS Seanchan- Massed on Altaran/Illian border Illianers- Massed on Altaran/Illian border Perrin- Marching NW out of Altara Murandians- Recently unified under an ambitious King(who also plans military reform) All these forces massed in one general area point to one thing- A MAJOR event happening. Any Ideas what to expect? Personally, I believe Demandred, known as a gambler as a general, is about to make his presence known in a BIG way.

This, I would qualify as a pseudo-spoiler, but I couldn't find anywhere else to put it, so here goes. The Stilling Of Amico Nagoyin. She's the Aes Sedai of the Black Ajah who is in charge of guarding the cell where Nynaeve, Elayne, and Egwene are being held in the belly of the Stone of Tear (ch. 55, What Is Written in Prophecy, TDR). In the previous chapter, Egwene uses her twisted ring ter'angreal to enter Tel'aran'rhiod, and, upon reaching the dungeons, she see's Amico fluttering in and out of the dream, and shields her. With the darkfriend shielded and stuck in tel'aran'rhiod she steps out of the dream. *time shift* Matt comes into the…

What is it that the aiel say when someone dies? I can't quite remember what it is and i don't have time to thumb through books right now. It's really important though so if anyone can help i'd be greatly appreciative. I think Rhuarc might have said it in book 2 or 3, but it's been a while since i've read the books. I keep getting it mixed up with the shienaran death rights that Rand used in book 2. Sorry, i posted this somewhere else but i think i'll have more chance of getting an answer here. Mods can delete the one in Aiel(Org) if they want.

Now i don't have my books to hand at the mo, just re-reading and it came to my attention that in KoD Perrin is reffered to as the wolf king, trading his axe for the hammer.. heralding the last battle etc etc But where has Perrin aquired this title from? Do wolves have a hierarchy apart from pack leaders? or is it simply because he is one of the three big players that they laid this title upon him? Oz x

It's my believe that Rand having LTT inside his head is an effect from the taint on saidin. Although this voice has been in a lot of ways helpfull for Rand, it's not normal. Had there been no taint on saidin, I don't think (it's speculation obviously) he would have heard the voice. The taint doesn't (didn't) cause voices, it causes insanity, in Rand's case, a voice. Any other ideas?

  8. As much as I appreciate the originality of just about everything in the story, I would have no seen anyone point out the obvious similarities of the Aiel "savages" to Frank Herbert's Fremen. Even from the origins of a peaceloving people driven from their homes and living for thousands of years in exile, there two groups are virtually identical. I was pleased that Jordan didn't create a melange type substance.

Does either ever acknowledge the fact that Moiraine is Elayne's "half-aunt"? They must both realize it, Lan as well, even if none of the others do. I'm not suggesting that there's anything meaningful about the fact that they don't, just struck me as odd that it never comes up.

alright, this thread is based on the quote from shadow rising. "i could wager i know the face of the man i will marry better than either of you knows that of your future husband". now i know that right after this she says that thy should not read to much into her words, but that seems an excuse. my question is who is the man. the only one i can think of is Thom, (because of later books) but even that feels like a stretch.

[spoiler WARNING - KoD info, aMoL Speculation] I just finished a re-read through KoD. How will Egwene reunite the tower? The following is pure speculation, but what do you think? Elaida has commanded that Egwene serve her at dinner. So, Elaida will certainly be ticked off at Egwene's refusal to concede. My guess is that Elaida will reverse her previous position on Egwene (treat as novice, break her, and mold her to the Tower). Elaida will order Egwene put on trial. But wait, Egwene already knows that the form of summoning for trial/punishment by the Hall is the same as summoning for consideration as the Amyrlin Seat (reference Egwene in Salidar). The Hall wi…

Ok, so my wife and I are disagreeing on this. She has read all books up to 11, but that was about 2 years ago. I am currently reading through book 8 and I'm still in the beginning chapters. Basically our disagreement is this. At the end of book 7, Nynaeve still doesn't have Lans' Bond (near as I can tell), we both agree on that. But she says somewhere between book 7 and 8, the bond was passed. There was no mention anywhere about that, but she insists that even before they head through the gateway to use the bowl of winds (chapter 1 I think), that Nynaeve has the bond. I don't recall reading anywhere in there that she did. In fact, the last I read was that Myrelle was stil…

  15. 1) With the waste already depleted of most its spears, i think its likely that the trolloc hordes will come crashing through the waste instead of Tarwin's Gap. Makes for a pretty suprise bringing an army out of where you would least expect it. 2) Does Malkier (Spelling?) stand or fall after the last battle? Will the nation be rebuilt or the people finally destroyed beyond saving?

  17. I am new to this series and i just finnished book 6. My question is how come Rand as the series goes is becoming more selfish, uncaring, violent and horrible all toguether? You just start to wish that one of the Forsaken destroys him, the Dark One wins and the people that Rand has been causing misery can finnally live in peace. Trully, he has become one of the most hated character in literature for me. Hopefully he will change and become so remorceful that he will be asking for forgiveness for the rest of his life.

I have a question. When Nynaeve healed Logain she used Fire and spirit and he got all of his strength back as far as I know. When she then went and healed Siuan she was thinking about how different some things are done and healed differently wether it's a man or a woman. And men, it is said, were stronger in fire and earth than women, so if she had used water and spirit instead of fire and spirit would Siuan have regained all of her powers back? Like that Aes Sedai that Flynn healed?

2007 sees the much wanted return of the Emperor Awards. "The what awards?", I hear you say. You've heard of the Oscars? If so, the Emperor Awards are DM's equivalent of the Oscars! There are 25 different categories, which cover the ORG side, the RP side and other aspects of DM. For a full list of the Award Categories, click here! And the good news is that everyone is entitled to vote in them! However, certain restrictions apply. - Members of both the RP and ORG side can vote in all the awards (except those stated otherwise) - Members of just the ORG side can vote in the ORG side and Other awards (except those stated otherwise) - Members of just the RP side can…

If the forsaken are from the age of legends, which we know to be true, then how can ishy remeber fighting the dragon countless times since the beginning of time? he is the only one who mentions it. i dont think any of the other forsaken mention it. ishy remembers is as early as the prologue of tEotW so i dont think it has to do with him being crazy. I can only think the forsaken may be reborn, like the heroes of the ages, and in each age become evil. what do you guys think? also was there a dragon/dark one fight pre-bore?

As I'm currently rereading EotW again, I take notes. Now, I know there are many "strange" things in the first books that in later books is corrected, or explaned in another way. Today I found this, which is nothing to comment if I hadn't read the other ones... In chapter 21 Moiraine says: "there has not been an Aes Sedai powerful enough to Travel since the Time of Madness. Unless one of the Forsaken are loose there is still no one who can". So - do Moiraine know the weave for Travelling? She seemed to know many things forgotten or forbidden (like Balefire) so shy not. But if she does, she is problably not strong enough to make it. But when they DO learn the w…

I may have missed something when reading the book previously and am currently working my way through the COT at the moment.

I'm new here, so please forgive me if this has already been discussed. Does anyone have a theory about who in the tower embassy party stole it? Could Taim have somehow gotten hold of it? Or is it unimportant and never to be heard about again?

Ok I just got this really exciting and extremely unlikely theory, but the exciting is bigger then the doubt... What if Grendal is helping Taim, not teaching him, but instructing and guiding. Taim then in turn doing the same to his men... There is little to no evidence to back this up, so rip this to shreds if you want, no hard feelings :)

Just to get an idea of what we need to see in the last book let's list all the things that need to happen. Seems like a lot to me for one book. a little thing called Tarmon Gai'don Moraine will be rescued - bout freakin time Lan will march to Tarwin's Gap Matt will lose an eye and develop a Canon. Egwene will unite the Tower somehow. the Tower will be attacked by Seanchan Rand will deal with Semirhage Cadsuage will teach all the Ashamen something Taim and the Black Tower will be dealt with Galad will hook up with Berelain Elayne will have some babies Elayne will prepare Andor for the last battle Logain will achieve power Rand will fake his death - I think…

Ok, since I am about to re-read the Eye of the World, I thought it would be a great idea to start a topic on just Eye of the World. You know for newbie's and people who just want to concentrate on one book at the moment. I will start off by saying that out of the first four books (which is as far as I've gotten so far), Eye of the World is the second best. The best book of the four, in my opinion, is The Shadow Rising. However, the Eye of the World is still a great beginning to this book. Robert Jordan has defenitly taking fantasy to a new level. I have read many fantasy books, but none of them have really gripped me such as the Wheel of Time series. I may even go…
