Masema must be a Wilder and able to channel ,,, he must be channeling Spirit weaves to make people follow him and be rabidly loyal to him,,, mybe he knows he is channeling Spirit Weaves and hopes to get close enough to Rand to be able to proslitize him (make him a follower)

In The Great Hunt Verin tells Ingtar that she was sent by Moiraine. At the end of the book Moiraine denies sending Verin. Verin also left the procession to Tar Valon after Moiraine. Any thoughts on this as her PoVs later in the series seem to dismiss her as a possible Black Sister.

I love this because I just checked DM and found that there are other people like me. My little brother came to me a few years ago and told me to read this great series by RJ. I said he was crazy becuase fantasy was not my thing. He promised me that if I read the EOTW that I would love it. So I did...and he was right. I got hooked. I live in a town without a bookstore so he would send me each book in turn with a questionaire about the last book, and he would insist that I make a projection about the next book. If I didn't comply he wouldn't send me the next book! So I read the series in a matter of weeks and have been hooked ever since. I have heard that many peop…

Well, who are they? People who aren't necessarily vital to the plot but are somewhat cool. I would go with Beslan, because he is hardcore and hilarious. And Bela, because she is Super Horse. And a fair few others, I will post them when they come into my head.

i've read a lot of RJ's interviews where he talks about his inspirations for various aspects of the series (ie, characters, cities, cultures, sword forms, etc). one thing i have not seen him talk about is where he got the idea for the oneness and the one power. are these things he made up completely himself? or are they things he borrowed and tweaked to make them his own? are there any links to interviews i might have missed where he discusses this? thanks.

I am not even religious, can't make up my mind whether to believe in a god or not, but I was thinking as fans maybe it would be good to get together and hold a mass prayer for RJ and his family what do you think?

maybe I missed it when these questions were answered, but I am way confused. 1) How do Aes Sedai that become damane get over the three oaths (especially not using the power as a weapon). as we saw with teslyn they're still aes sedai, and no oath rod is used to remove it, and yet they're sure as hell killing people. This seems like way to fundamental a plot point to gloss over, but I think I missed it when jordan explained. 2) what ever happened to the whole know-where-you're-traveling idea. When skimming/traveling were introduced, skimming was when you had no clue and the power just led you, and traveling was when you thoroughly knew what you were doing. In ma…

    1. What was the route of the Aiel War? They crossed the Spine of the World at Jangai Pass, and burned the city of Carhien. Fighting is said to have taken place in Tear. The final major battle was at Tar Valon and the Aiel seem to have taken a fairly direct route back into the waste as Lan left them at Kinslayer's dagger. 2. Why did Moiraine go to the Eye of the World without Lan, or go at all? Moiraine set about finding Rand from the day she was raised to Aes Sedai, and do not believe that she had time to hit the Eye between scenes in New Spring. I do not believe that the answers to these questions are very important, but I am on a reread and these two thing…

  13. "A small white plinth stood centered in that circle, supporting an oil-lamp made of clear glass. The flame on that lamp burned bright and steady, without flickering. It was white too. Suddenly a pair of birds flashed out of the mist, two ravens black as night. Streaking across the spire-top, they struck the lamp and flew on without so much as a pause. The lamp spun and wobbled, dancing around atop the plinth, flinging off droplets of oil. Some of those drops caught fire in midair and vanished. Others fell around the short column, each supporting a tiny, flickering white flame. And the lamp continued to wobble on the edge of falling." COT: 20, In the Night, 495 It se…

Lan al'Mandragoran, Where does his fate lie? Obv he'll bring back a huge army of Malkier, and be crowned king by.... Rand? Though surely there is more to this character than just that? I'd like to see Lan, Moiraine and Nynaeve in the same scene, Lan has to choose between saving Moiraine or saving Nynaeve? Thoughts and opinions on this? Perrinftw

I'm just curious, but how many of you people here would play a Wheel of Time based mmorpg? If you don't know what a mmorpg is, it's a massive multiplayer online role playing game. They usually cost 12-15$ a month to play, and have INSANE amounts of content to explore. I think a very tasteful game could be done with the WoT series using the Hero Engine. I have a design document layed out as to how the game mechanics could work, but I don't exactly plan to make it. That would require a very LARGE amount of money and time. But if anyone here would be interested in taking such a stride toward game development, please let me know. I would absolutely love taking part …

I think that Rand needs LTT for the last battle; many have mentioned the need to kill LTT, but it is clear that he is needed since there is no way for Rand to know the most effective/important weaves for the last battle w/o LTT in his head. what do you think?

Every time Rand deals with Taim I personally think that he has handled it poorly. He has never treated Taim with any respect. He always treats him as someone that is underneath him and not worthy of anything great. I also personally believe that as the wheel turns around to the new age there will be new Chosen. Taim is a prime candidate for that. Can Rand having mishandled Taim actually forced him to the dark? When if he was handled correctly he might have made a good person for the light? I ask myself how long I would allow myself to be treated that way before I would do something differently...

In the Dark Prophecy written on the prison wall in Fal Dara when Padan Fain was broken out, there is this stanza: "The Watchers wait on Toman's Head. The seed of the Hammer burns the ancient tree. Death shall sow, and summer burn, before the Great Lord comes. Death shall reap, and bodies fail, before the Great Lord comes. Again the seed slays ancient wrong, before the Great Lord comes. Now the Great Lord comes." Now, I'm pretty sure the Watchers on Toman Head refers to the Do Miere A'vron, and the second and third line seem like poetic descriptions of the Dark One's touch on the world. But I'm interested in the second and fifth lines. "…

I've seen a few people gripe about the covers of the books (Which we all do, I imagine, about certain depictions), so I did a search a while ago for some nice WoT art, of which there is surprisingly few. Other than what is in the top left hand corner of this site, I've found one artist, who absolutely, positively, has the best WoT art around. No doubts in my mind. Insanely talented. Most even fit my mind's idea of the main characters. unfortuneately for me, im still on my first read throught the series, and im not quite finished with tSR. Does she really become that annoying? She is the embodyment of women. she loves her man, but gives him shite constantly. not all women are like this...i guess she does just embody all the elements that are annoying about women. though i havent had that much interaction with her at this point, is it really that irritating that shes around? from where i sit now, i like her. maybe that'll change when i get further into it. as far as a character goes, she seems pretty solid.

then we'll never see a WoT movie and if it were to be done the same way I hope we never do. The Eragon movie was the worst book to movie I think I have ever seen. Please, anyone who enjoyed the Eragon book even the slightest bit, do not see this movie. Let's hope that after this someone decides to show how a fantasy movie SHOULD be made and does the Wheel of Time. Sorry...needed to rant about my huge waste of money on this movie.

I have been wondering what we can read into the title, 'A Memory of Light'. These four words are currently the only words we know for sure will be published in the final installment. I think that the title foreshadows something about how the series will end. For example, the world may fall into the shadow, or Rand may fall into the shadow, but in the end the world and perhaps Rand will be saved by 'A Memory of Light'; in other words, by a memory of what things were like when people had hope and before his fall and the world's fall into the shadow. What do you think?

There has been much speculation about Setalle Anan and her role. Some have suggested she could act as a go between between the Seanchan and Aes Sedai because of the respect Tuon has for her. Others have suggested that she will reunite with Cadsuane and become part of her coterie. KOD has revealed much about Setalle Anan. We now know that she was an Aes Sedai which strengthens the hypothesis she is Martine Janata who was burned out while investigating ter'angreal. First she recognizes that Mat has a ter'angreal that diffuses the weaves of saidar, she is also aware that Cadsuane has a ter'angreal that detects channeling (KOD A Cold Medallion). She is also fascinated by …

  27. As some of you may know im a fan of the Body Swap theory... i.e. that Rand and Moridin swap bodies through their psychic link. There is quite a bit of evidence for this, but nevertheless someone recently asked me why on earth Rand would want to do such a thing, and i replied that i thought it would happen by accident. It was only with some consideration that i realised that i didn't know how on earth it might happen on accident... now i think i do. I think the key is in the Saidin Sickness Rand gets everytime he grabs saidin. I think that when he does the link between him and Moridin becomes stronger, and that the neusia comes from problems with perception... seei…

I was reading through Knife of Dreams again, when I came across a passage that confused me. In Chapter 10, A Village in Shiota, when Mat is telling Thom, Noal, and Olver about his experience with the Aelfinn and the Eelfinn, he says that there was no need to tell them about the gifts from the Aelfinn or his answers from the Eelfinn. But earlier, I thought I had read that the Eelfinn were the ones who gave him the gifts and tried to hang him while the Aelfinn were the ones who answered his questions. Am I missing something, or is it just a mistake?
