now im pretty sure this has been discussed before but i couldnt find the thread. ok in LoC taim says "these so-called aiel" and in CoS moridin says "those so-called aiel" and most of us knows that moridins colors are red and black and if you read KoD we find out that Taim uses those colors also so i think that taim=moridin or moridin is teaching taim some of the things from the AoL and/or has complete control over him please tell what you think.

OK...Aryth Ocean/Ogier question. I noticed on the Encyclopaedia WOT site today that even though the Aryth Ocean is a Westeran ('West of the Westlands') that the Ogier call it the Eastern Ocean. What's up with that. Is it pre-breaking terminology, or do that Ogier originally come from somewhere so far West that the Aryth is East of them? I'm confused and curious about this one.

I have been skeptical for some time that so many characters in this series seem to escape death by the skin of their teeth. There have been notably few deaths involving main characters the entire series. Aside from Foresaken deaths of course. Dying is all those idiots seem to do well. So here's what I want. Predictions on which Light Following characters you think will bite the big one during A Memory of Light. Rand is an obvious one. Even though some don't think he will in fact die. So let's leave Rand out of the predictions. Who other than rand do you think will die in AMoL? My prediction - Gareth Bryne Cadsuane Tam Al'Thor

KOD spoilers from hereon. When the Forsaken meet in Tel, we are seeing the meeting from Aran'Gar's/Halima's perspective. When Moridin joins the meeting and announces that someone pretending to be Sammael or Sammael himself has sent thousands of Trollocs into the ways, we know that will eventually be the attack on Rand and co. later in the book. Moridin also commands all the Forsaken there not to attempt any attacks on Rand but to instead try to kill Mat and Perrin. The last sentence in the chapter implies that Halima has an attack on Rand impending, and due to her latest whereabouts, it seems likely it will come from the Rebe…

When Nynaeve drops Lan off at Worlds End, how does she immediately make another gateway a zoom off to another part of Saldea? I thought the rules were clear on this, "You must know a place really well to travel from there." She had to look up where she was going from a book in the Library before she left. So obviously, she did not where she was going or the location. Is this a new Nynaeve talent???

I am new to this forum so please excuse me if this has been brought up before. Everyone seems to assume that Rands blood on the rocks...etc means literally his blood. I have been thinking lately that it may mean his Blood, or his unborn child. Maybe his and Elayne's unborn child being born at a certain place/time is the real translation. After all, she is of the royal line of Andor, which we all know is supposed to be important to TG. Just my thought, flame away. :D

RJ has said many times that not everything would be wrapped up in the final book and that there would be some loose ends. I was thinking of this (an watching Kill Bill) and an idea struck me. What if, RJ kind of skiped around in the final book. For instance. In the first couple of chapters we see Mat and his gang heading to the Tower of Ghenji, and then we hear nothing more of him until after Moriaine was freed. And then we only get a Mat or Thom retelling of how it went down when they meet back up with Rand. It would help with the "size" of the book and to be honest, I don't think it would bother me awfully. Anyone else have thoughts on this?

Something that just came to me while listening to Egwene talk to Beonin in the tower. If Gawin and the younglings were at Tar Valon, if he knew she was being kept there as a prisoner he would send all his men at the tower. So the question is where is he? The last I remember seeing him is right after Dumais Wells, Obliviously he could have returned to the tower by now, but I dont recall if this was ever brought up.

i've already asked this in another thread but i thought i'd start one specificaly so that i could get lots of feedback. i've just finished lord of chaos and am about to start a crown of swords, however i'm a bit apprehensive of starting because i have heard and read online that the quality of the books decreases and they tend to becom just padding to stretch the story. can i have your guys opinions on books 7-11 No spoilers please

I think that Lord Luc killed Janduin. In the Great Hunt didn't it say that Isam (Shaiel's Brother?) became one with Luc (Lan's cousin?) in the high passes of the mountains of Dhoom? In The Shadow Rising it says that Janduin wouldn't raise his spear against the man who looked so much like Shaiel? I want to hear your opinions. Thanks :D -General Tam

Okay I've just read New Spring for the first time. I haven't seen a thread on here about it so I thought I'd start one.n (Sorry if there have been) I really enjoyed this book. I felt it was differnt from the other books....not so many things going on but it did give me an insight into the tower and how Moraine first got into searching for the Dragon Reborn. I was left really wanting to find out what happened next so I really do hope RJ writes the next 2 prequels. From the point at which the story ends I find it hard to see how she will get to the point where she knows to go to The Two Rivers to find the DR. Would Tam's wife have gone to get the bounty pre…

i've been thinking about these for a while now and figure that some answers would help my confused nature: 1: given that you don't have to actually touch an angreal/s'angreal to use it, is it possible to steal the use of someone's? ie: take graendal's ring. if she wasn't actually drawing through it at the time, could you highjack it and use it against her? will she feel the attempt? if so, what are the distance limitations to doing so 2: it's been said many times that it's impossible to fly using the power, but what's stopping rand etc from creating a platform out of air, stepping on it, and moving it similar to Skimming? 3: the choedan'kal need ter'angreal to…

First, before I forget. I just wanted to ask if anyone else notices the similarities between Eragon and the Eye of the World. I read Eragon (which I realize was written 13 years after Eye of the World) last year, and I picked up this series earlier this week. I have noticed extreme similarities that I won't list, but if you'd read Eragon you'd see it too. I started reading this series 4 days ago, because my friend recommended it. I started it, and 50 pages into it I decided that I probably needed to go pick up the next one while I was out so that I didn't have to go get it this weekend. I knew I would want to read it. So I currently own the first 3 books. I'm about h…

How can Ingtar be a Darkfriend? He's leading the escort of the party to find the Horn of Valere. So, who else thinks that he might have "arranged" for the Horn to be stolen, so he could get glory?

I don't want to bring the party down, but... I am so over the jokes about Bella. Bella this, Bella that. she was only ever cool because Rand healed her while they were riding! She's an old horse. Sure, she was Rand's horse, but she's nothing special. I just don't think those jokes are very funny. They're nine kinds of old and twice as many kinds of not funny. IMHO

WoT movies are quite possibly a pipe dream to be done with any real faithfulness to the books. However a TV series along the lines of Babylon 5 would be awesome. If you are not familiar with B5, J. Michael Straczinsky(sp) wrote a story arc that encompassed 5 full seasons of 1hour shows on TV. It was great. Events in episode one had meaning in the last season. This could be done live action or something big and bold like the first?? one hour animated fantasy drama on TV. Anyone up for blitzing SciFi with email, snail mail, anymail. Or dare I say it, this is another in a long line of dreams that sound better in my head than out. Like the one about cooked sushi.

Has anyone else noticed that nearly all darkfriends are either dead or suffering? Who wants to be a darkfriend anyway? My main question is how can a darkfriend stop being a darkfriend. Is it possible? There seem to be some mention of oaths. Is it binding? I remember Rand telling Ingtar the same thing. Would Ingtar not have done so if it was possible?

hey i was just skippin thru book six again and i noticed suthin. now i know Taim isnt demandred because RJ said he wasn't or some such but he says some thing the suggests he's from AoL in chapter 11 (Lessons and Teachers) this convo happens this is where Taim suggests the use of gateways for finding new students “How would you do it?†“Using gateways,†Taim had picked that up right away; he was very quick with everything Rand showed him. “I can visit two or even three villages a day. Villages will be easier in the beginning than even small towns. I’ll leave Flinn to watch the lessons—he’s the furthest along, despite w…

For someone who considers himself smarter thaa your average bear and a discriminating reader, i find it hard to rationalize for myself, not to mention the world at large, why I continue to read these books. At least I can take solace in the fact I haven't paid money for any book since five, which of course, has already lost its rick-shaw quality Tor cover. I came down to this realization: I already read eight books, goddammit- I have to think my time is worth something. I read each new book at a slower pace than the preceding one, hoping vainly to validate my needs. Whenever i hear that "BOOK X IS OUT!" I slather at the mouth and beg to be first in line for my more gullib…

Face it, LTT was completely off his rocker at the end of the AOL. If Ishy hadn't healed his mind in the prolouge to TEoTW, then let LTT rush off and wipe himself out before the taint took his mind again, the game was up. Even if he had been reborn it would have been as a madman unconcious of his surroundings. I know Rand claims he has a madman in his head, but most of what we get to see of LTT he seems mostly sane if slightly unbalanced. Trust me, self interest is not high on a true madman's list of important things to get done. LTT has saved Rand countless times by showing him the necesary weave to keep him alive, and he listened to reason in KoD when he could have ended…

Ive been thinking about the as hiearcy. The get control based on how strong they are. WTF? This is the the epidomy of civilazation in this world, or so alot of people think. Why do they do the same thing as ... barbarians. Come on. Even the "savage" Aiel have a requirement then give them an education that will probably kill them. Really, i hate the as enough.

Reading the trolloc attack thread got me to thinking about how one would be able to condust war with so many chanellers about. Ever since Lord of Chaos, we have come to a bit of an understanding of the power of using large numbbers of Channelers in battle. I thought it would be nice to hear people's thoughts on how battles could turn out come Tarmon Gaidon at its hottest. We could also discuss the battle scenarios that have already happened up to the latest book and mistakes or triumphs, and keys to those victories and defeats. I'd like to start with the latest engagement with large numbers of Shadowspawn against Rand's party in Eastern Tear. I think the tac…

The Dark One is supposed to be Creator's opponent, in that, the creator makes the pattern of the ages, while the Dark One tries to unravel it. This implies the DO has been around for untold ages, and according to the philosophers in WoT, has been trying to break free for an infintely long time. Wouldn't all that time make him omniscient(all-knowing)? I mean if you've lived since creation, you should know quite a bit (and that's an understatement). So how is it that his plans are foiled my mere mortals?? The Dragon reborn is the only one I think can logically foil him, and that's because the Creator sent the DR to clean up the mess that humans made by opening the bore…

Forgive me if this has already been discussed. In KoD Moridin says that Sammael is responsible for sending a large amount of Trollocs through the ways that we see later attacking the manor house rand and co are staying at. RJ has unequivocally stated that Sammael is dead. Has anyone given thought to whom would be posing as Sammael? J

I have been wondering this for a while... When Nynaeve healed Logain he was returned to full strength but Leane and Siuan only regained a fraction of their former strength in channeling. When Damer Flinn healed the three Aes Sedai that Rand stilled, it makes no mention of them being weaker in the power than before. Is this just left out, or does this mean that Women can return Men to full strength and vice versa. And if this is the case, can Damer and pals then reheal Leane and Siuan so they can be top dogs again? I didnt really see another thread on this,so if this is a question that comes up frequently I apologize.

What's your idea of what will happen to the Seanchean and their damane? Here are a few facts of the case: After knowing that she herself can learn to weave saidar, Tuon has not shown any sign of letting the use of damane go. Most damanes cling to their leashes even more than their masters do. Egwene is determined to make all women who can channel be associated to and be under the White Tower. She herself has been under the collar once. Rand is bent on uniting the world before Tarmon Gaidon. He has offered truce to the Seanchean. Let's not forget Mat, the prince of the Ravens.

Does Verin's forearm scar have anything to do with her last serious mistake 70ish years ago? And does this have anything to do with her schemes over that time period? Did she learn something through her use of the dream terangreal that must be done before TG?

I've searched around (some) and so far, haven't seen this discussed (in this site). If I missed it, I'm sorry. So, what does everyone think of the current state of saidin/saidar, post-cleansing? Rand cleansed the male half, so he and the Ashaman say. But most stories I've ever read, there's always an equal and opposite reaction for any action. There's always a consequence to working big magic. Anyone starting to wonder if saidar is now tainted? Perhaps not in quite the same way - not making the women insane, not making them sick to their stomachs. But rather, use of saidar for ordinary every day tasks seems to be spreading a corruption. Numerous mentions of how food …
