There is an ancient book called the Testament of Solomon, which features King Solomon summoning an army of demons, said to have the "Faces of asses, oxen, and birds". With the religious basis of many of the things found in the Wheel of Time, could this be a basis of the trollocs?

As I near the 20% mark of the book, I couldn't be happier. I took a break to put together some thoughts on the meaning of it all, and of course there's the Johnny Cash, Asha'man Video there. I am pretty new here, and it may be bad form, but I figured if I couldn't share it here, then where could I? http://stipewriter.blogspot.com/#!/2013/01/the-wheel-of-time-ashaman.html Thank you for the time and happy reading! This is perfectly true, but says none of the things you wish it would, nor serves any of the purposes you uttered it to serve. Actually, right out of the gate, we were very considerate and supportive of Brandon.

Pretty simple question, although one which has raised extended and heated debate between friends and family of mine - who do you feel is the best swordsman in Wheel of Time? I mean, obviously there are so many Blademasters around and characters to choose from, so we should probably keep this to discussing people we've actually seen fight at length in the series and leave out Blademasters who are confirmed but only take part in large scale battles and few duels (like Rodel Ituralde and the other Great Captains). So with that in mind, a (very) short list of people to expand upon as potential nominees would be more along the lines of: Rand (obviously) Lan Gawyn Galad Tam …

Hi all, first post :) Is there any news on special edition hardcovers now that all of the books are out? I have a mismatched set of hardcovers (and softcovers from my first readthrough (and ebooks from my 3rd read)), and I'm hoping a new special edition set (leather bound anyone?) might be released. Thanks, happy reading!

Discuss. Note: This was all released prior to the book, along with part of chapter eleven, two versions of the cover art, extract snippets called the Memories of Light, and some general teasers and non-spoiler reviews. Full discussion on these elements have been on going for some months over on the Pre-Release Spoiler board, if you are interested in reading them, they can be found here: http://www.dragonmount.com/forums/forum/364-a-memory-of-light-pre-release-spoiler-material-discussion/

For those of you who missed this on the Front Page... Starting November 26th and running till January 8th, the day before the release, Tor will be releasing a line or two from aMoL every day via email which you can subscribe to [and find out more information about] here: http://www.tor.com/memories-of-light/register Once this goes active we'll have a thread for discussion of the lines (possibly just this thread re-vamped).

Umm, I just had a totally random weird thought. It must be from the pre-release stuff because I remember Cyndane thinking that Moridin had rescued her by killing her. We have no evidence to suggest that Ishy just marched in there and killed things without making a deal. He must have gone through the Tower, or maybe through the doorway in Tear (destroying it later), but somehow he made it to the wishgivers and got Lanfear back. I know questions regarding the Shadow are considered dangerous, but probably Ishy knows way more about this than Moiraine. So, coincidentally, Shaidar Haran pops up right around that time. What do we think of as more likely, Ishy created…

Hi guys. Clu7ch here. Yeah, the annoying guy who properly placed Bela on her pedastal. As I promised in the title, I have no spoilers for you, just a simple reflection. Dragonmount has been my home away from home - it's where I've come to post, read, theorize, plot, debate, and chat about this great passion of mine. I don't exactly know what will happen now that the series is at a ending. Theorizing can sort of seem idle or silly. I'm willing to see what the fans can do for it though. I'm not a tried and true veteran. I picked up on dragonmount around the time of winters heart being released. Regardless, this is - more than a reflection - a tha…

So after reading TOM and finally enjoying this tedious series again I picked up all of Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn novels, having never read any of his work before (other than his two WOT entries). I know most here will disagree but nonetheless - here are ten reasons why I think Sanderson is a better writer than the late Robert Jordan in no particular order. Mistborn spoilers abound, tread lightly. 10. World building – although Jordan’s world is considerably more fleshed out, it took him well over 6 of the novels he wrote to fully develop the world while Sanderson managed to accomplish a very detailed world in only three novels. Sandeson's world is equally detaile…

Just finished my.. third.. re-read of the series and just realized that aside from the Aethan Dor, I don't think I've seen shields mentioned in any part of the series. With the heavy use of bows and crossbows, one would figure that infantry units would be carrying shields. But as far as I've been able to detect (I have been skimming) shields are never mentioned :o Please tell me I'm wrong or feel free to discuss why you think this is!

So ive been reading back thrue the series looking at the prophisies, and this hit me. There was some talk about rand having to use callandor to beat the dark one, most notably the "he shall hold a blade of light in his hands and the three shall be one". Now i think that dose need callandor, thats the blade of light, but i think the three that shall be one is refering to the three powers. In tgs at one point lt tells rand the resone that the seals dident work was because he had to tutch the dark one, alowing the do to taint it. What if he touched the do with the true power insted, and used callandor, and thus the other two powers to do the sealing? I guess ill find ou…

There is a lot of speculation about what Moraine asked for while being held by the Finns, and I am trying to avoid that as a subject, but want to focus on something related to it, so please don't turn this into another what did Moraine ask for thread. According to Lan - the bond snapped shortly after Moraine entered into the Finn's realm and the Ter'Angreal doorway was destroyed. According to Moraine - the Finn's took pleasure in feeding off of Moraines power. Unverified but strongly supported speculation - the Finn's Feast off of emotion from others - examples of this is when they took Mat's eye, when Moraine mentioned that they made a double feast while feed…

Lucker’s Official Non-Spoiler A Memory of Light Review So, now that I’m free from the restrictions of my NDA I’m basically going to do two reviews—this one is going to be non-spoiler (it’s on the Pre-Release Spoiler board so I am assuming you’ve read those, but even then I’m not going into any details on those spoilers either). Later, maybe this weekend, once more people have the book and we move to open the spoiler board to a more comprehensive thread range I’ll post a second full spoiler review that will likely be an expansion on this one to add specific detail and references, for tonight though hopefully this will prove enjoyable—or at least interesting—to those of…

New(ish) to the forums. Longtime lurker, not a big poster. A thought came to me while I was reading Gaidar's thread in AMoL forum. I was thinking, neither of these theories seem likely. Both are technically possible, but they are far too complicated in my opinion. I just feel like it would be uber lame for BS to resurrect him as such. Rand is easily my favorite character but for the stories sake I feel like he needs to die. That being said, if he must be resurrected, I would prefer to see it done in a much simpler and already used fashion(by the mastermind himself). I see it going something more like this: The deep red contrast of his bloo…

So, pretty soon it will all be over. We'll know the answers to most of the important stuff. If you have any crazy theories left, here's your last chance to get them out there before AMoL, so that afterwards you can point back here and say ha. Or, you know, probably not. Mine are: 1. The DO will be destroyed. 2. Rand will be dead at the end of the book or alternatively lose his LTT memories. 3. Both members of one of the couples Perrin/Faile, Moiraine/Thom or Lan/Nynaeve will die. 4. Something relating to the Creator will be revealed about Rand's, uhm, fertility god tendencies (apples growing, multiple births etc.). 5. The future Avi saw will come true, or the boo…

We know, from what we have of Chapters 2-3, that we're going to see a fair bit of the Black Tower catching up to the present in the beginning of AMOL. (Right now, it's several days behind the rest of the storyline.) I've lost track of where we are, so in this post, I figure out what has just recently happened and how this might bear on what we're going to see in the early going of AMOL. I hope it will make the chapters a little more fun to read, because they'll be easier to understand. (A lot of this stuff has been happening in individual chapters and subplots for several books now, but it's been drowned in a lot of other major events.) Here's a run-down of some of th…

According to Brandon, the dream Egwene had of her head on a block and an ax hasn't come true yet. He also said that he pulled off a George R R Martin move in A Memory of Light and that there is an emotional scene involving Bela.... Could this indicate death for Egwene by... beheading? Discuss

I obviously haven't posted much but I have been reading these forums for many years now. I just wanted to say thank you to everybody who has come on here and contributed to a fantastic group. These forums have been entertaining, frustrating, and informative all at the same time. I look forward to continued discussions well after 1/8 but I wanted to come on and say thanks for the ride so far!
