i've read up to book 4 or so, more than enough to know they're not for me.  for the longest time i still owned a couple of them, until i took a hatchet to them.  damn that was fun.

 

as i always say when i go off on these books, i'm attacking the material and the author, not the fans.

 

and the only real problem i have with the author is that he's a self-important moron.  that's all.  the books wouldn't be so bad either, if they were written by someone else, and didn't contain any of the characters, settings, or concepts that they do.  if just those things were changed, then they could be great.
