I don't mind Marigold, she brings a nerdiness to all of it

There was already a nerdiness to it, Jeph just seemed to have decided there weren't enough webcomic characters who revolved around video games and anime.

The ackwardness was cute in it's way

Marigold is a well-written character, mostly, but she's so busy crapping on herself all the time that she's not really a character I want to read about.

I think he is trying to go somewhere with her, like Raven became a different character later on

If by that you mean that any character she had was thrown away in favor of making her the butt of slut jokes.

That wasn't all to the character

Not initially, but in the last year or so before he stopped using her (until this year when he brought her back) that's pretty much all there was to her. That and "Raven's dumb" jokes.

Where did Martin's friend disappear to

You mean Steve? He turns up every now and again, when Jeph needs someone with testes for Marten to talk to.

So he can't just talk to Faye

Steve usually turns up when Jeph remembers he has like four male characters to seven hundred and twenty-two female characters.

And Faye's boyfriend who never seems to be around

Angus is around often enough, although the current storyline involves him being out of town.

Makes for some ackward moment between him and Martin

I think the only awkward Angus/Marten moment anytime recently was when Marten walked in on him doing a naked booty dance outside Faye bedroom.
