It's easier than you'd think but harder than they all make it out to be.

 

I taught myself using my sister's "Learn to Knit" book for way-way beginners, but I couldn't pick up more than the very basics.  And I stopped doing it for a few months, and when I tried to pick it up again for the school play I was in, I could NOT do it anymore.  It was irritating.  I had to finger crochet and I looked like an idiot.

Actually, not really.  I have a friend, one of the most interesting and wacky and eclectic people I know from offline, my "twin," and she knits.  It's so weird, because she has such a strong build and she hits HARD, she's really strong, and she used to be something of a tomboy.  Still mostly is, but at least she's embracing some of her femininity now.

 

Anyway, she's a really strange person, but she knits. :D
