Well the idea was that they kind of ate their way out in all directions. Anyway, without the abdominal wall, could the spine really hold up everything north by itself?

Via bones, yes it could, although the rest of the internal organs may just fall out, after they dislodge.

Well, the spine is flexible, that's why I sort of thought that whatever remained of the muscles that surround it might not be sufficient to hold it up once there was all that leverage on one side.

It is fairly flexible, but only due to the ligaments that hold it together, which are so easy to snap.

Okay, so my notion of stress in a single direction being enough to bring the whole thing down isn't so far-fetched after all.

No, it isn't far-fetched at all, then again it does take less than 1 lb of pressure to break skin. Ligaments are only slightly stronger, usually requiring 5 to 6lbs.

Well unbalancing it is a lot harder than people think, you'd have to remove supporting muscles, besides just the bowels of said individtual, and even then, with as ridged as the leg bones and muscles can be, assuming after death, rigamortis for a short time will keep them standing.

Abdominal wall isn't something that would hold up the spine though, its more than deltoids, trapeze, lattimus dorsi, levator scapulae, and gluteus maximus.

But see, those all have to work to hold the spine erect; the abdominal wall helps just by being there, by alleviating some of the pressure caused by having the rib cage hanging off one side.

I would agree, but I still don't think removing the bowels of someone would cause the spine to snap, by the sheer weight of it, unless you remove all the other muscles surrounding it too.

Well the idea of the centipedes eating their way out suggested the loss of more than just the bowels.

How much longer do you think we can overanalyze a single line of spam?

I'd say five more posts, GO GO GO.

Not really centipedes prefer the fat to the muscle due to how much easier it would be for them to digest, hence why they do finally eat something they tend to slurp it, not chew.
