Should our black tower beach be tropical, or dark and shadowy?

I'm thinking sunny and tropical. We can have lots of captured servants around to serve us.

So a nice tropical beach, but behin the beach is a dark and forbidding mountain of black rock. It has one cave entrance, the glows a dark red and spews a noxious odor. I like!
