a pint's a pound the world around. 1/3 cup is what my full palm holds. a teaspoon is what my open palm holds. 1 cup is what my two hands cupped hold.

a cubit is an arm length.

Why would you need to know how many inches are in a mile? That's what you aren't understanding. In the real world you don't need to how many inches or centimeters are in a mile/kilometer. In the real world there are easy ways to figure it out.

I know I can't convince anyone.... But you'll never convince me that the metric system isn't easier overall and doesn't make more sense than US measurements when it comes to comparing between units of measurement.

I don't have to use a calculator or a piece of paper to solve problems dealing with the metric system. Not so with US.

That's all it takes to convince me.

Well, you don't hear me proposing to change to metric, do you? I just said it makes more sense.

what doesn;t make any sense is overhauling a systemt that is firmly in place and works for everyone except very specialized scientists who have to learn esoteric crap anyway.

it's not broke. we don't need to fix it.

and we're not talking esperanto.

and yes, who needs to know how many inches are in a mile? 21 blocks does it for me. if there are blocks.

It only makes more sense b/c you don't know any better. Sure it's simple, but who cares, it doesn't matter.

Yeah, we're on the same side of the "should we change" thing. Don't really need to argue that.

From personal experience, I like things that make logical sense. Metric does. That's all I'm saying. That is all.

Also, I need to go to bed, I'm tired. Probably why I'm cranky.

Also, don't say "you don't know any better." Like, I know what my brain comprehends better than you do, okay? I know my own life better than you do, and I know what knowledge I do and don't have. When you hear my entire life story, then you can tell me I don't know any better.

I can respect that, but in the real world it doesn't matter.
