And it was usually a lot more than a year start which added insult to injury.

 

If I had to put my finger on it I'd say he wasn't feeling well for many years and just lost the plot. Without contractual obligations and the need for more income I don't think he'd gave continued writing.

Then you're in for some fun with Crossroads of Twilight.

 

That's basically the first half of the book of which Knife of Dreams is the second half. Only they're both the length of a full book.

 

Yeah, books 7-11 are very slow... Brandon Sanderson really picks up the pace though.

How is Knife of Dreams slow? 

 

 

It's probably the fastest of them, but it's nowhere close to the last three, or the first three for that matter. 7-10 if you wish.

Everything from PoD to ToM is slow in my opinion. The 4 book Perrin arc greatly disturbes me. I don't give a rats behind about Malden.

I wouldn't call The Gathering Storm slow, with all Rand's and Egwene's character development in there, and much less so for Towers of Midnight, though I have to say that about every chapter in ToM with Rand in it is one of my favorite chapters, which may influence my view.
