We set up a society ran completely by Solar Exalted.

never played it. did something similar though by creating a society of necromancers. Killed the other players and raised them as semi-sentient zombies so the game master wouldn't let them create new characters.

How sinister are the Solar Exalted?

Solar Exalted are actually heroes chosen by the sun god, slaughtered at the end of the first age by a group of dragon-blooded, warriors descended from Great ELemental Dragons. (With a society run by an Empress who has lived three times the normal Dragon Blooded lifespan)

They were demonized by those warriors.

 

Some of them became twisted and turned to necromancy.

 

They are only bad guys in propoganda.

well, in your game it seems that they earned their status. I think I'd have played one of those Abyssals, but I usually play such races
