You are missing something. Included in the base of the pyramid, along with beer, is fried foods. Do you BAKE your bacon? No. You FRY it. Ergo, FRIED bacon is still part of the base of the food pyramid. It's also at the top as a condiment/sauce, imo. Technically it's in sweets, too - chocolate covered bacon, chocolate bacon chip cookies, oreos deep fried in bacon fat, etc.

Well... if you have it draped over a cthulurky? Sure. You can bake it. Or on pizza? Sure. You can bake it. Or in cookies? Sure. You can bake it. But to eat? As a snack? With spray cheese? No. That bacon needs to be fried.
