We had to break the news yesterday (Saturday) to my mom (who's turning 91 in 2 months time) that my one sister has an extremely rare and aggressive form of cancer. It started in the one lung, but has spread to her liver, neck and brain. Her one eye is completely closed (the eyelid wont open). She has been given 3 months to live, without chemo. She's chosen the chemo, and just completed the 1st course (3 days). She will have 3 days of treatment every 3 weeks, from now until sometime in December - if she lives that long. So, anyone here have experience with non-verbal children? And I don't mean, like, non-Verbal, the man child, either. The missus and I are trying to prepare ourselves for this possibility. Big man hasn't spoken yet. We've increased his speech therapies and his special education appointments these past few months and not much change. The push is to have him pre-school ready by January as that is when the Early Intervention Services we've been taking advantage of ends. Of late there has been a great deal of distraction presenting itself from the pesky real world, and these distractions have put me in a bout of inactivity for a length of time now. Some of those issues have been resolved, some are still being worked through. During the week of the Cuen Game Show event I took an unscheduled leave of absence, and abandoned a thread I was to help run. I would like to apologize for doing so, and also speak a little as to why it happened. I do my best to keep separate my social life (in this case, Dragonmount) from my personal life. So last Thursday when we got home, my one cat (Taz), was either running or creeping around the house, looking extremely stressed. My 1 sister, who'd visited my mother during the day, says my mother dropped her walking stick and it crashed to the tiles next to the cat. He got a massive fright. Friday morning, I couldn't actually get out of bed to go to work - he'd crawled into my arms (he's not normally a cuddle cat), and refused to let go of me. Friday evening we eventually took him to the vet, who examined him thoroughly, but couldn't find anything wrong. She gave me tranquilizers (with pain killing ingredients) to give to the cat for 3 days. So his symptoms are …

Tomorrow, 7 April, I will be marching in protest against our corrupt president, government, and ruling political party (the ANC). As the ANC Youth League and several other pro-ANC bodies have threatened to attack and kill anyone who dares to protest (apparently they reserve any kind of democratic action strictly for themselves), things might get hairy.
