Back in my day, if you didn't like a show, you turned the channel. There's having an opinion about a show you don't like. And then there's people who make hating the show's existence their personality/internet persona. The former are appreciated, the latter are tiring.

okokokokokokok I just started watching wheel of time, never read books. how do the white cloaks, which appear to be the government millitary, get away with hunting and killing the ladys that use magic. And if the local government supports that then how can they have a white tower which trains and houses them right in the kingdom.

Alanna CBR story What do you guys feel about this latest story indicating that Alanna and her relationship with her warders will get yet more screen time in season 2? I was not a fan of the mount of time devoted to the made up from scratch warder storylines from S1. Alanna is a minor character. We do not need more screen time devoted to her outside of her actual role in the books. This indicates that they will continue to double down on their own story while cutting most of the actual events of the books from the show.

I don't believe there's a thread on this already. If I missed it, I apologize. I really enjoyed Unraveling The Pattern's video on the Age of Legends cold open from episode 8 so I wanted to share it and ask everyone's thoughts. https://youtu.be/eKkTPmvWBLA My theory is that we'll get at least one AoL cold open each season, and that they'll gradually reveal more about the War of Power and the sealing of the Bore (actual sealing might be in the final season to parallel Rand sealing it?). I also think they were deliberately misleading at times in order to make the gradual reveal of what really happened more interesting for non readers.

So I noticed that a thread hasn't been created for the specific announcement of Season 3. What are people's thoughts and/or hopes? Characters people are looking forward to seeing? Locations? I personally hope that if Amazon can't greenlight 10 episodes/season, hopefully the runtime goes up by 20mins/episode. Really looking forward to the Rhuidean scene given that RJ2 has stated that season 3 is going to be TSR.

Rafe's twitter fireside chat indicated they were not letting these two 'great actors' sit on the sidelines in season 2. I'm sure everyone can guess that I'm not pleased because that means less of the original story and more of them filling in the blanks with their story. Not something I think they've done well so far. With that out of the way, what story lines do you anticipate them fleshing out? Moraine learning about Tam's background and other action referenced by Jordan or storylines newly created for the series?

By now we know the show got mixed reviews. There is a poll thread who already got like 60 votes, and it seems about 60% were positive, and 25% negative. So, generally good, but still one fourth of the fandom here disliked the show. On the other hand, there is some argument that perhaps we posting here are strong fans, and so we are both 1) more likely to be put off by the differences with the books, and 2) more likely to be disappointed because we've been hyped for years and we were hoping for something impossibly successful. mixed reviews also from critics, but regarding them 1) criticize is their job, and 2) most of the negative reviews come from people…

There were two Origins clips, as well as confirmation that there will be more Origins episodes (those are the animated mini-episodes) starting in August. Here was a trailer for one of the clips, which was on the origins of Malkier. There was a great Behind the Scenes clip which had a TON of stuff in it I want to pick all apart here: And they confirmed Season 3 has been greenlit and Rafe will be going to London to start work on the scripts in 2 weeks. Season 3 will primarily cover The Shadow Rising.

I didn't want to keep adding this articles to the articles thread for people who don't want spoilers so here is a General S2 leak thread!. Wotseries has transcribed another leaked audition tape. This one for Gawyn or possibly Galad. https://www.wotseries.com/2022/06/22/scoop-gawyn-audition-tape-uncovered/ They have really nailed Gawyn's arc here. He does specifically mention his brother so that should confirm we are getting both of the boys. I am kinda excited to see what they do with Gawyn.

robert jordan didn't have tolkien's hobby of inventing new languages, so he never actually created the old tongue. though by the end of the story there was quite an extensive vocabulary, and it has some derivation from real languages, it wasn't a language. but in the last episode cold open, we have two characters speaking fluently in the old tongue. some of the soundtrack is in the old tongue as well. does it mean that somebody actually went and turned all that vocabulary into an actual language with full grammatical rules? or it's all just gibberish using the same sounds of the established old language?

Does anyone else think the Healing Tears of Nynaeve were inspired by Egwenes BreakBone Fever? on my re-read I found this in the text which I found interesting: tEotW: Page 322: "....to look after her sometimes when she was a toddler, when her mother was busy - and I started crying because I was going to have to watch her die. When Mistress Barran came back an hour later the fever had broken. She was surprised but made more over me than Egwene" We know this is likely the first time Nynaeve channelled as a child. Do you think this small snippet from the book is what inspired Nynaeve Healing Tears on the show?

Ok, rand is revealed as the dragon, moiraine brings him to the eye, rand asks what he's supposed to do, moiraine hands him a male sa'angreal. basically says, with this you'll be super strong, point it to the DO and shoot but what if the dragon had turned out to be egwene? moiraine certainly does not have a female sa'angreal, or she would have used it in battle. so she would have told... take your puny untrained power, point it to the DO and shoot? what would moiraine have done with a female dragon?

What do you all think about the interactions between Perrin and Laila? When he visited her in the smithy, she was very upset and he tried to comfort her. The thing that popped into my head was that she couldn't conceive or maybe had a miscarriage. Thoughts?

I didn't see another thread for this, but I thought I could get some things in one place. In the Consider Amazon episode 6 application for an Emmy, (Here: https://www.consideramazon.com/title/the-wheel-of-time ) they drop some hints for Season 2: Spoiler 1) Lan, Perrin, and Rand all become very proficient with their respective weapons during Season 2 (well, Lan was already, but Perrin and Rand apparently get there). (Mat's actor wasn't at the session to find out). 2) Each core character will get an episode focused primarily on them during the season. 3) Most of the characters will be split apart from everyone …

Just wondering what people think the portrayal of the Seanchan will be like in season 2? The Seanchan characters always came across a quite complex when I read the books because on the one hand their culture does the monstrous thing of enslaving people who can channel and treating them like animals, and they are invading and conquering lands and people they have no real claim on (although they believe otherwise), but equally they cannot be just dismissed as "evil" or "bad guys". We see that the Seanchan view themselves as liberators bringing lost peoples back into the fold of the empire and bringing enlightenment. There also have strong values of morality and…

OK, we know that Amazon limited them to 8 episodes, which forced them to condense A LOT more than they should have needed to. How do you think they would have done each episode, and the show overall if they had been given 10 episodes? I think that having 8 episodes, but with the season premier and finale being two hours each instead of one hour would have been best. It would have allowed them to include not only far more detail before and after winternight, and allowed the characters to have a proper level of development and better set of them being forced to leave the two rivers. I think they would have included Baerlon, and introduced Min there, instead o…

I'm a few chapters into A Memory of Light. First re-read of it since it released and first re-read of the series in years. I've also watched some more of non-reader reactions to the show. It's great to see how much they like it and are excited for S2. I haven't read or watched much of the news and leaks or content creators in general. Will probably do that closer to release. I'll also watch S1 a couple more times to keep everything fresh in memory. Time flies by so quickly S2 will soon be just around the corner. ?

Perpetual optimist that I am, I've been thinking through to the very end of the series. Three things in particular: First Spoiler The Rand<->Moridin switch. Not my favourite moment in the books, will it appear as a cop-out in the TV series? And how would you film it? Second Spoiler Rand-as-Moridin. Jarring? Though I think this could be easily overcome. Third Spoiler Do we want an epilogue, or is a short talk with, say, Min enough, plus pipe? How would you do them? Any thoughts?
