Hello and welcome, all my White Tower friends! One thing that always gets a lot of spotlight whenever Final Fantasy is brought up is favorite characters. And considering FF's huge and memorable cast, this comes as no surprise whatsoever. From Fighter and White Mage from the first, to Lightning and Snow in the latest (the first of the two XIII's still counts as the latest in my eye), there are so many that it one can easily find a favorite - or a least favorite. Come, tell me yours, friends! Now, ordinarily I'd expect a thread overflowing with Cloud and Squall, but you guys are all more creative than that, right? I'll start: My favorite would definitel…

So one thing that makes Final Fantasy awesome is the awesome musical score it has (we all love Nobuo Uematsu right?) This thread is a place where you can share some of your favorite songs from the Final Fantasy series. Each day, I will also put a song of the day. Share and discuss! Our first song of the day is Cinco de Chocobo from Final Fantasy VII.

Since we've been having a discussion about what constitutes greatness in our leaders, it makes me wonder if we have the same definition for our fictional leaders. It is their actions, their circumstances, their environment that make them great? Naturally, I'll start the discussion off with Rand al'Thor. Please remember, NO A Memory of Light spoilers are allowed. There will be spoilers for the rest of the books, though. Rand first gets his taste of leadership in The Great Hunt, when he, Loial, and Hurin get separated from the rest of Ingtar's group. Rand didn't want that responsibility, but Hurin's faith in a Lord pushed Rand to embrace the role. And in that b…

Hi everyone! It's ASG here. Hallia and I will be joint hosting a game this month for the Blue and White Ajah's MONTH OF GREATS! Our game will focus on GREAT people and events. Each week will have a theme, just to make it interesting. We will post a clue and then we need participants to guess WHO is doing the event/deed. WHAT the event/deed is. And WHEN the event/deed occurred. You ask us simple YES and NO questions ...seriously, that is ALL we will answer. These are to help you solve the clue ... Don't just jump in and start guessing random people. Use the clues and ask questions to increase your chances. Then when you're ready to guess, you post, …

There are a lot of people called 'Great' out there in the world: maybe they're a sportsperson, politician, scientist, hero. And all of of them will be well know to many of us. But what about the others? The people who never get their name written across the stars, but whom we value as personal inspiration? This is your chance to celebrate those Greats in your community, those people who are Greats to you but we may never hear of. Maybe they are a friend who you can always count on. Maybe they are a local leader who makes a difference to the lives of you and your neighbors. Maybe they work for a charity that is close to your heart and has helped you or someone you …

What Constitutes Greatness? Great men are like mountains; we do not appreciate their magnitude while we are still close to them —Joseph Chamberlain It is with rivers as it is with people: the greatest are not always the most agreeable nor the best to live with —Henry Van Dyke What is greatness? Well let’s begin by understanding the word great. As defined great is: Very large in size, Larger in size than others of the same kind, Large in quantity or number, Extensive in time or distance, Remarkable or outstanding in magnitude, degree, or extent, Of outstanding significance or importance, Chief or principal, Superior in quality or character; …

Join us on our quest to solve an ages old mystery. In true Davinci Code style we will travel through history, locating and solving clues that will lead us to our ultimate goal. Each clue will lead to a Great and the next clue will be found on an item, or in a location related to them. The final clue will solve the mystery. This will not be a quiz or a competition. Discussion and possible ideas are encouraged and even essential. Only together will we succeed. **** The sound of the letter hitting the floor should have been more ominous, more suitable for the beginning of what it heralded. As it was it just fell and lay there with the junk mail and bills, wait…

Guess the Great! Month of the Greats Welcome to the Month of the Greats! In this event, we'll be discussing Greats and playing games about Greats, even discussing what makes someone a Great. In this game, one of the two moderators will give you a vague hint about someone considered a Great in their field, and it's up to you to guess which Great it is. It's fairly self-explanatory. Here are the rules: 1. One guess per person per hint. Even if you know which Great it is after you've taken your first guess on the hint, you must wait until the next hint is given! (The only hint where this does not apply is the fifth one.) 2. Five guesses in total per hint. After five gu…

The Arthurian Legend has always been a favorite of mine, so I gladly jumped at the chance to lead the discussion on it. I have read/seen may different adaptations to this story, some were amazing while others.. well others were just not up to par. The last book on the legend that I read was the Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley, which takes a bit of a different point of view on the story, and I have to say is one of my favorites so far, I love the way it turns it around differently than anyone else. What are some of your favorite Arthurian books? Why?

KNIGHTS, AN' WARDAS', GATHER YE SELVES. As you may have noticed, we are currently having a bit of a witch-problem. Yes, there is no doubt about it, everyone on the Aes Sedai path could be practicing WITCHCRAFT! Now, there is naught need to panic. Their traitorous plebeian-tier acts could just be of a mockery, but for all we know, they may all be REAL, EVIL WITCHES! HENCEFORTH, if any of YOU have seen any of the ladies or gents of the tower channeling the one power, BRING THEM FOURTH! And put them on trial for their dark, sorceress ways! And then we will proceed to THROW THEM INTO THE FIRE! BURN THE WITCHES!

So in each of our lives, there are individuals we've encountered or heard about who have inspired us greatly. The bravery of one action can truly leave an impact, and this bravery is something which we rightly honor. In this thread, we will commemorate the people who inspire us with their bravery.

In the midst of the brightly coloured marquees and delicious aromas that wafted through the redecorated Warder Practice yards, was a grand ring, surrounded by grandstands. In the middle of this mysterious ring, a number of Warders had just finished muttering a long and complex incantation, bringing forth the bravest and greatest knights from another world to compete against each other! Now, in the spirit of the event, the Warders decided that the only way to truly decide which of these great knights truly was the greatest was to ask the assembled people to vote on their favourites, in a series of duels in the classic tournament style. At some encouragement for some of th…

If a woman's birth was not in a noble family or royalty, the typical role in the society would be a wife, mother, peasant, artisan, or a nun. They were dominated by the male members of their family and expected to instantly obey and respect not only the father but the brothers, uncles, and male cousins. The male's word was law. This thread is dedicated to the women who defied the society castes, their names forever immortalized in the history books by taking up the sword. Starting tomorrow, I'll bring up some interesting information about women in the medieval era who took up the sword - either permanently or just to defend their home, family, and lands in one ba…

Not too long ago, the young Manshima TylerRVG killed Fnorrll's horse. Now, normally this horse would have just stayed dead, except Mother had bonded Fnorrll's horse during... A different incident. Apparently, animals being Bonded makes their spirits hang around for a bit should they die... Or something. Anyway, since we have this ghost horse hanging around, we're going to have a medieval knight related event. We are going to be randomly speaking in "Old English" for the next week, and we will have many discussions and games to enjoy. So partake in this fair event and enjoy thyselves! XD *Jousting--bonded pairs--ASG In this thread, bonded pairs …
