  1. Hi all new here, nice to meet you all, so I am not sure if this has been discussed or not, I looked for a bit but found nothing on these two topics. 1) In TSR chapter 26 Rand learns that Coumin, his distant relative, had given up the way of the leaf very early in the breaking. This is interesting to me because he is described as a little off (how so?) (Why mention this?) Could Coumin's forsaking of the way of the leaf be an earlier breaking of the Aiel then even that of the tinker's separation, perhaps our red veiled Aiel (unlikly). 2) Balefire as we all know unravels the pattern that is why during the war of power both sides choose not to use it. This is strange …

In either TSR or tFoH (forget which), after the WOs taught Egwene how to invade peoples dreams (I would slap them for that if I could) and she successfully does it to others, she tries on Rand's dreams because her whole point in this series is to be a pain in his tush and darn it he doesn't deserve ANY privacy. Well, she couldn't get in as we know but because she couldn't take the hint to stay out of his business, she keeps trying and treats them as a game she vowed to win. Lanfear said she could break through his dream ward but it would be painful. Could Egwene's vow, plus what Lanfear said, be a foreshadowing of her eventual victory? Maybe even pulling him into TAR…

  3. While we all enjoy this series, I was wondering what some of the worst lines you've read were. For me, in tPoD chapter "A Goatpen" there is this gem: Nothing was more important than Faile. Nothing! Wtf? Perrin and his band had just arrived in Ghealdan and were on a rise looking over a city. Faile was sitting right freaking there. Ham fisted can't even begin to describe that drivel. Ok, your turn.

Here's one possible cameo appearance that he could make at the Last Battle: Billy Bob looked around and saw the greatest circus in all the land set up near the soldiers camp. None of the soldiers were doing anything but waiting. Suddenly, out of nowhere, he heard the blood-curdling battle cry of a madman. Out of the entrance of the circus came a man riding an elephant for all it was worth. He wore a bright crimson cape that flagged behind him as he charged full bore toward the shadowspawn guarding the gloomy abode of the Dark One. "Follow me! Come on, now! All of you! Join Valan Luca! Today we defeat the Dark One himself!". More people riding elephants, bea…

Has he gotten the major sections out of the way and is filling in all the subplots? It'd be nice to know how far along the book is

Okay so I started rereading the books and reading The Great Hunt reminded me how much I absolutely hate the Seanchan. I realized that I would actually rather have the Dark One win if the Seanchan were able to just take over the world if Rand won. I seriously hope they get what's comign to them and more. Like I don't think Jordan or Brandon could come up with an idea to screw them over that would be to harsh for me. Anyway was just wondering what other people thought. :)

  9. I'm currently rereading The Shadow Rising, and I just read Chapter 54, Into the Palace, where Nynaeve and Moghedien have a stand off just after Nynaeve discovers the "male adam" seemily meant for Rand. It seems there that Moghedien recognizes Nynaeve and I can't recall where from....can someone fill in the hole in my memory, since I am trying to recall as much as I can with this reread...Either where did they meet before or where does Moghedien recognize Nynaeve from? Thanks...

OK I'm dm'ing some real life rpg's here... and coming up with a name of a 'church' (cult, whatever) loosely based off the wheel of time series. The key is it has to fit into a modern setting and 'avoid' local prejudice, hatred, etc.. The only name I came up with so far is 'church of the light of creation' or 'Tower of the sisters fellowship' or somesuch Help me come up with some interesting names.

So, Robert Jordan's world is extremely detailed and has elements of science & sci-fi in it. During the "Age of Legends" technology and magic were both wielded powerfully and potently (at least from what I can make out in the few passages there are set in that time). Well, in a world that technologically advanced, I have to think there were satellites in orbit. So... what happened to them? Granted, over a 3,000 year span of time, I would say the majority of them would have decayed in their orbit and fallen back to the planet, however a few of them should still be up there, particuarly those in high geosynchronus or greater orbits. I know this has nothing to do …

So, I'm going through a reread right now and a thought came to me... it's one I've had all along, but now that I'm older and more mature the more I wonder about it: Was Casuane Robert Jordan's replacement for Moraine? I ask this from a strictly dramatic point of view. I seem to recall reading somewhere that the WoT series was only supposed to be 6 books in length at its longest. Was Moraine slated to face Lanfear and end up with the Fins in the original plan? As the series began to take on a life of its own with the author, did he come upon a storyline where Moraine would end up captured with the Fins (something that would have great dramatic impact), yet leave…

Okies.. so I´m on my re-read and I´m 250 pages into CoS. I haven´t read the last books in a couple of years now. Now... I haven´t read ToM yet and just got my hands on it. Should I be a good girl and read all the other books before I start ToM, or should I be a bad girl, and just start reading ToM. I´m worried that I will spoil the awesomeness that is ToM if I skip the build-up?

I worked at a placed called Waffle House (link for you non-US folk, particularly non-DeepSouthUS) for 14 years (it was a family job) and it was so awful that I still have nightmares about it even 3 years after I quit. So, when the nightmare started - the part I remember - it had something to do with WH, and I was in trouble for something yet again, and I overheard (from outside the building - dreams are weird like that) some waitresses inside talking about how I should go to JAIL for whatever it was I did. And then my boss - some upper management type, division or area manager - came back from vacation right at that moment. And it was Moiraine. I was so scared of her …

Will the white tower open its doors to the male channelers now that saidan has been cleansed? Will the black tower be destroyed? Will there be a Tamyrylin and Amyrylin (spelling police help lol). Love to know your thoughts

Hey you guys, I'm currently working on my Extended Essay project for the IB programme and I need some help. I am writing about how RJ characterizes females in tWoT and how it differs from other (male) authors. I mean, he has a special way of describing them. There are always women in positions with authority (queens, village Wisdoms etc.) as opposed to many other fantasy books and epics I've read. I'm not saying that this is the only work by a male author with powerful female characters, but it is far from stereotypical. One of the themes in tWoT is the constant struggle between the sexes and the way they view each other. What are your thoughts on this? How does it affec…

So we met one of the legendary heroes, Noal the man with Mat who went to rescue Moraine was actually Jaine Farstrider. Elayne's warder is also a hero. Rand Al'thor is Lewis Therin reborn. These three (im assuming Jaine was one of the legendary heroes) are all heroes of the Horn, would this imply other heroes were reborn into the pattern to face the last battle. Egwene has become a very strong character, perhaps over powered in her progression. Could it be she is one of the Legendary Heroins spun back into the pattern to face the last battle? She was intended to marry Rand in the beginning of the books, and her strength in the power of reminds me of Ilyana(spell check …

Surely at some point over the years, the man had to take a little vacation from Randland for a little R and R. And going a little off topic, what are a few of your favorite authors? personal favorites...Kurt Vonnegut(spelling) William S Burroughs C.S. Lewis Tolkien Gene Wolfe Thanks for any feedback

So I just idly flicked through and re-read the scene atop the for tower between Keemlin and his papa. I think, bizarely, that is the most I have been affected emotionally in the entire WoT series. I mean, he sends the other kid away, stays...today you are a man... ....*wipes a tear*

So, I know BS has stated that he got direction directly from RJ's notes that the Asha'man with Perrin could not tie off the weaves for the Gateways they made--the Asha'man had to sustain them. But, I just finished A Crown of Swords and at the end of the novel during the attack on Illian, Rand tied off his weaves that made Gateways. He even untied them! What gives?

Hello along with other sagas/trilogys etc where people have grown up around a original and then having to wait many years for the later version people always seem to have a "sense of ownership" towards the earlier releases compared to the latest ones, For example alot of people that i know that havent watched star wars 1-6 who go and watch all 1-6 straight will say the first 3 is there favourite but people that have been around since the original trilogy will favour that. Same with the Rocky's 1-6, Terminator etc. im going to see if it applies to Wheel of time. As i started reading during TOM i went all the way through and TGS and TOM were pretty much my favourite wit…

  24. In the first book we see Moiraine creating false tracks and tokens that she can follow. Since then we have seen Aes Sedai capable of healing flesh wounds and breaking the link between Mat and the dagger from Shadar Logoth. There is also Severing and tearing apart weaves. But considering how many books there have been, is anyone else disappointed by how few abilities the Aes Sedai have demonstrated? What exactly can modern Aes Sedai do?

It's explained numerous times in the books that wilders can/do touch the True Source instinctively, and don't even know when they're doing it. But how is it possible to do this without knowing it if it's shown many times (especially in the early part of the series) that it can be extremely challenging to touch the True Source? Basically, if it's so hard to do intentionally, why can someone do it unintentionally? Also, how could a channeler (unintentional or not) not feel the effects of channeling as every other willing channeler does?

I've been a bit annoyed at the self-fulfilling prophecies that keep cropping up in WoT, where someone fulfils the prophecy solely because they heard about it in the first place. Mat kidnapping, and ultimately marrying, Tuon is the prime example - if he'd never heard about her from the *Finns then he'd never have kidnapped her and thus never have married her - furthermore Tuon only agreed to marry HIM because of her own prophecies about him. Some minor examples hold too, like the crown for the King of Tear which Min offered to design based on her vision, and of course Siuan and Gareth when they rescue Egwene... It just feels weak when the character hears their pro…

So, I'm in the middle of reading LoC, and I just had an intense thought. Taking in the fact the RJ wanted Rand to be a saviour figure, think about this quote. Page 198 - A Matter of Thought: "...but Nynaeve would not be satisfied till she healed somebody three days dead." It's a long shot, but anyone else think this may be possible foreshadowing? If this has been discussed, post a link.
