I´m starting to wonder.. or fear do be the right word =P that DM will die pretty soon. After aMoL is released and analysed will there be anything else to talk about? Will DM and all the WoT fans with their theories and questions move on, cause there will be no more book? Many have said that the reason there is so much theory, speculation and analyzing of every single word on every page is because we are waiting for the next book. Me starting to read in 1997... I think haven´t had the opportunity to wait as long as some of you have, but when the waiting is gone, the story finished, will this also be gone. Feels kinda sad. But maybe that do be good. There are other book…

Hi everyone, I am cleaning out my apartment, trying to downsize so I can move more easily and have the complete (except for AMOL) books series, including the World Of Robert Jordan (the big white book) all in hardcover. They are all in brand new condition. I have most of the books on my kindle and it is easier for me to move around that way. That being said, does anyone here want or know anyone who would want them? I was thinking about $60 bucks plus whatever it'll cost me to ship them out. I can sell them individually if anyone wanted to do that for $10 a book. Let me know. Thanks! You can respond here or email me at jonathan.b.barbato@gmail.com. -Jonathan

"The Broken Wolf, the one whom Death has known, shall fall and be consumed by the Midnight Towers." What if the Broken Wolf is really Slayer? We know that when a wolf is taken by a Darkhound, the wolf's soul becomes twisted and it becomes a Darkhound. So what happens when a Wolfbrother is taken by a Darkhound? Logically, it should produce a dark version of a Wolfbrother. We know that Slayer shares a lot of the Talents in Tel'aran'rhiod with Perrin and definitely has some sort of direct antagonistic relationship to the wolves. If Isam/Luc is a fallen Wolfbrother, then that would absolutely make him a "broken wolf." We also know that Moridin is the only Forsake…

What is the point? Did he really feel obligated to march into the blight, alone, sword aloft, in some kind of ridiculous suicide run? I find the same annoying, illogical, refusal to accept his position has now infested Lan. It's not enough we have to hear Perrin whine mercilessly about how he's "just a blacksmith" and never wanted to be a military leader (except when his honey was kidnapped, then all bets were off). Not enough that Rand goes on and on and on for, literally, 8 books refusing to accept his full station as the dragon reborn and leader of the free world. Now we have Lan doing the same thing, refusing to accept his place as king of Malkier and leader of i…

There is a prophecy of the dragon, that says that he shall bind the 9 moons. Well, I am thinking that this is already happened. The fact that Tuon was the "Daughter of the 9 moons" was a diversion to throw us off the true path. The standard pregnancy = 8.5 months (conception to birth - not date of last period to birth) or 266 days. However since twins tend to come a little bit earlier than normal pregnancies, we will assume 252 days. On the same day that Rand was bonded to Elayne, she got pregnant. Lunar cycle is 28 days or after 9 lunar cycles, 252 days, so Elayne's babies and the bonding occurred at the same time, then he may have already been "bound to the …

We know that the top 6 Forsaken are: Ishamael, Demandred, Lanfear, Grandael, Sammaela and Semirhage. Ranked in their order of their capabilities and threat level. 1) Ishamael. Strong as any man ever, strong as LTT, and Nae'blis. DO "The Chosen are always the strongest". The Nae'blis is the strongest. 2) Demandred. Mr. Almost to LTT. Perennial #2. 3) Graendal. Possibly the smartest Forsaken (although raw IQ wise that could be either Ishamael/Philosopher or Aginor/Scientist) but with her knowledge of the human mind makes her extremely dangerous. First Forsaken Rand said was more clever than him and was no sure how to handle her for a l…

Granted, we've never seen anything else like the 'Eye'. No other pools of Saidin or Saidar or True Power, however that doesn't quite explain how channeling from the Eye made Aginor get younger. Sure it sounds cool and in any other magic system "it would just be", but in WoT everything needs an explanation, so what was it? Some kind of weave that can make your cells regenerate so fast you become young again? A weave that creates an inner time portal to your youth? Essence of Smurfette?

  10. Hey, my first time posting, but I have been scanning over a good deal of posts here and I am very surprised to see all of the different Lanfear theories. A lot of people seem to interpret her final scene in the last book as being an attempt to trap Rand in some way. And others still interpret her as pure evil and believe she's going to be standing with the shadow til the very end. It seems pretty obvious to me that Lanfear is going to play a major role in the final book and she will be helping the Light in some significant way. Of course she will likely also die simply because it is not fitting for someone who has done so much evil just be completely forgiven. …

Forsaken Wrap Up Reminder Aginor-Burned to ash at the eye of the world by Rand. Revived as Osan'gar. Osan'gar is presumed dead attacked by Elza who thought she was killing Dashiva a proxy of Osan'gars. The attack was not specified as balefire but one of egwene's visons suggests he will not return. Asmodean-Lightning struck by Rahvin. Rand then balefires Rahvin resulting in the undoing of Asmodean's death. Later he is killed by Graendal presumably by balefire. Although probably not neccesarry as the dark one wouldn't have wanted him back imo. Balthamel-Was killed by the green man at the eye of the world by exploding from fungi and plants growing inside of him. …

Does anyone have any theories on Slayer's connection to the Tower of Ghenjei ("ToG")? I just randomly realized that I've never asked myself why Slayer is associated with the ToG. I suggest that he's connected to ToG because a few times when Perrin is chasing him he appears to run to ToG and disappear into it. I understand that Slayer is a creation of the Dark One that somehow combines Luc and Isam's souls. This combination apparently gives him a simultaneous presence in the real world and Tel'aran'rhiod ("TAR"), or maybe just a deeper control of TAR when he's in it. But how is that connected to the ToG? From some of the Birgitte scenes before she gets 'reb…

Off the top of my head, I can break TG down into four showcase fights: Rand vs. Moridin Mat vs. Fain Perrin vs. Superfade Light Alliance vs Shadowspawn There will likely be plenty of others, particularly for Lan and the Supergirls. Feel free to add your own. My question is- what will be your playlist for the final (for now), climatic battle between Light and Dark? I was inspired to make this topic because it occurred to me that the perfect music for Rand vs Moridin would be Mortal Kombat.

Ok here's the scenario basically without any drama or literary fancifulness. Lanfear does not know about the three wishes, OR she simply forgets in the heat of the moment. Both she and Moiraine are being slowly drained of their total strength in the OP (as per Moiraine) For Lanfear, to be less than herself would be torture so while she is being drained she screams "I wish I was dead!!" - Your wish has been granted - Her soul transmigrates to a new body with her permanent loss in total strength (until she is properly reborn). Lanfear loss in power - CASE CLOSED

Ok, so the title points to just how I think the series just might end: What if the Age of Legends (or the age before it) was ushered in by some great project sealing off ALL evil in man, or at least most of it, so that men could be good and kind to eachother? Creepy, bad for individual freedom, but imagine the utopia... basically, what the AoL was. There is some precedence, in the sense that Mordeth is basically a personification of a lot of human evil, coupled with Mashadar. And the Eye of the World was essentially cleansed of evil. So what would happen if you focused human evil even more with some great project using the newly discovered one power? And, if t…

Not sure if this has been suggested before, but I think Setalle Anan was the brown sister discussed in a previous book; the one who burned herself out while testing ter'angreal... That's why she showed such an interest in Mat's medallion. After which she admitted to being Aes Sedai and leaving the tower only for her husband to save her life by taking her in, etc. Agree/Disagree? Do you think she'll get healed and be able to channel again?

When LTT went with the 100 companions, the Forsaken were called to Shayol Ghul for a pow wow. Supposedly, the forsaken were chosen because of their abilities. What was Asmodeans remarkable ability that would entice the DO to make him one of the Forsaken? Music can't be that important to destroying the pattern and remaking your own.

So I was reading Winter's Heart again (I bought the audio book actually) I noticed something. It was from the POV of Demandred at the meeting of the Chosen in the middle of the book. Greandal said that he and Osan'gar were supposed to be the ones watching Rand. Now, I'm sure this was once used as the Taim/Demandred theory but I propose something different. This should eliminate Murandy as a possible place for him. If he was trying to become king there then how would he keep cup with Rand? In conclusion, he must be someone who has close connection to Rand.

If this has been previously discussed, please point me to the correct thread, as my search came up blank. Thanks. I am now listening to the Gathering Storm as a "re-read" and had a thought on the 100 weaves the Aes Sedai must complete during the testing for the shawl. Throughout the books they are described as "needlessly complex" for small effect. The stated reason for this complexity is that Aes Sedai must maintain calm under stressful situations, and performing these complex weaves demonstrates the requisite calm. But, then I got thinking. Maybe there is another reason the weaves are complex. Could they be used as parts to a whole, and "assembled" into some…

  21. So we know at the moment its looking generally good with jesus like rand against the dark one and egwene killing over 70 Black ajah, so this means that something bad has to happen so it looks like the light are in trouble before the last battle (its obviously going to be a cliche good side win by rand whether he lives or dies is the question) So i think the bad things that are going to happen is going to have to do with the black tower so its more even at the last battle (if black tower and white tower were on rands side the fight wouldn't even be a match (1400 + male and female aes sedai linked with sa-angrael) vs what 7ish forsaken and 200000 trollocs) so the black tow…

  22. I might regret posting this little bit of silliness. It's a celebratory whim from someone that just graduated college. But here goes. (I apologize in advance if this topic does not belong on the general discussion boards). ~ So the 6th season (series) of Doctor Who has just started. I'm assuming some of you are also obsessed with it, so I thought I'd entertain my itch for a little crossover and take a poll about two of my favorite scify/fantasy god figures. Who would win in a fight, the Doctor or the Dragon? The Doctor is a 900+-year-old time- and space-traveling alien with a magic screwdriver and a magic box who doesn't believe in silly things like …

Just something I noticed in my current re-read. In tGS chapter 15, Moridin gives Rand the philosophical side of himself. This is something I have thought about for some time. This raises a very interesting question. Why can we remember them. If balefire destroys you before the moment you were killed, shouldn't this cause some sort of paradox that would erase them from your memory? We know that Ishidin was a philosopher in the AoL, and that was why he went over to the Shadow. It seems kind of weird that he would be waxing philosophical about this. Probably nothing, but wanted to get some of your opinions.

  26. "By the light and my salvation and rebirth I swear.." So I've been reading the books over again and it struck me that I didn't know what all these people were swearing to. The creator in WoT isn't worshiped as a God. While he is often called upon as "Light!" and a myriad of other sayings. So my question is if the Creator packed up his bags and moved onto the next world on his checklist... why all this non-sense of salvation? What happens to someone that loses his salvation. I don't believe there's an equivalent of hell in WoT. Or does the darkone get to shove pineapples up their bum everyday at 2am and 1pm? Or is there salvation connected with their rebi…

The books clearly describe the way Rand's presence alters probability, and how (TGS excluded) the good balances the bad. When thinking of these "mass" or "general" changes (and not, for instance, the type of changes his presence causes in individual's behavior, as with the Sea Folk negotiations), it is interesting to me that these probability quirks happen only to strangers in his general proximity, and no one from his entourage. I am curious if the DM community has any thoughts as to why this is.

I just finished reading The Gathering Storm and as I prepared to insert my dogeared and worn paperback onto my bookshelf in its rightful spot to the right of Knife of Dreams I took one last look at the awful cover art. I know bashing the cover art is commonplace but what am I looking at? Obviously this is someone's minds-eye image of Rand, a short, squat, Irish looking fellow dressed in flowing red silk and seriously tight blue jeans whose arms are too short for his body but is that supposed to be Avienda behind him and the fire damage from the bubble of evil that burned up the guard and almost burned down the manor house? Seriously? The best this guy could conjure up…

Everybody seems to be speculating on who Rand will choose to assist him with wielding Callendor, assuming one with be Nynaeve, and the other up to tons of speculation. All of you are just wrong on this. Point: Cadsuane stated that callendor can only be wielded SAFELY when in a circle lead by TWO women because it lacks the proper SAFETY BUFFER. Point: Alivia was viewed by Min and we are told she will help Rand Die. Point: when a channeller overdoses on the one power, they can Channel so much more than they could ever do so normally, that it often costs their life, or their ability to channel. Point: Lots of prophecies point to Rand dieing during the last b…

So we know that he embraced the wind. We heard it from rand himself that he will not hear the voice of the kin slayer again. We can see from other pov, including bonded, that his temperament has changed. It even seems like the sickness is gone. But do you think that some great danger to his sanity still remains? I think this is possible but only because we did not get any pov from rand in tom, except from the dream in the end. Or is this because the books where split? If i recall, we hardly had any if at all, from elane in tgs. Has brandon said anything about this?
