I was just wondering: The mirror worlds (reachable through portal stones) are the worlds for all possible things that could have happened in another way. T'a'R is some kind of a constant, touching all these worlds. The other constant is the DO being imprisoned, 'cause if he were free in one world, he'd be free in all of them --> break the wheel --> there would be no mirror worlds whatsoever. Then there are parallel worlds (Finnland, Ogier Homelands). They can't be reached by PS, but obviously via different means (ToG, ter'Angreal, BoT which is probably a t'A anyway). So are these parallel worlds outside the pattern? Are they woven by the wheel in a diffe…

So Min has viewings which have been confirmed to have something to do with seeing the pattern in the future. Because balefire burns threads out of the pattern, do her viewings account for the possible removal of threads in the pattern?

I was thinking about the part in tEOTW were Mat and Rand are doing chores for a meal & place to sleep for the night. Rand thinks most of the trouble they had was because Mat was so suspicious and unfriendly-looking. Does anyone else think Rand would be intimidating himself? If a 6'6", broad-shouldered, Aiel-looking, well muscled young man with a sword came to your door asking for work would you be intimidated? (I've always imagined him having a deep throated voice too, though smooth and gentle) Also, I was wondering if any of the prejudice Rand encountered, was because of his Aiel features? I know most of it in Baerlon was probably because of being a downcountry …

I think that Min's recent viewing involving Callandor in ToM and the 'Logain's Glory' viewing are totally related. Here's what I think is going on: 1) Min keeps telling Rand that Callandor must be used by himself and two other women (Nynaeve and someone as yet to be determined, but probably Egwene or Moraine IMO). 2) However, she also tells him that it is flawed and will leave him somehow exposed. Well, if he is in some kind of circle trying to break/seal the bore with Callandor that will leave the DO completely unattended for some period of time (really dangerous IMO). I think this is the flaw; that is, you can't seal the bore and fight the DO at the same time. …

  5. Alright, this is my Demandred is awesome thread. Basically, point being, besides Moridin, Demandred will be the most effective and dangerous of all of the bad guys. Now, number one, I completely disregard anyone who says no because he hasnt had much screen time in the books. Fair enough, you dont like him because of that, but I am going from quotes and what we know of him. SO I dont really care about personal dislike because he hasnt been in it. This is what he WILL do. Not what HASNT happened. Lets start with what we know of Demandred. He went over to the Shadow because he was second only to LTT in all things. LTT was the greatest man of the AoL, with…

Heya, sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, but I tried a forum search, and my google-fu brought up nothing. I'm thinking of getting an ebook reader. I noticed amazon.com has the WoT books in kindle format, but amazon.ca does not. Does that mean, since I'm in Canada, I won't be able to buy the WoT ebooks? I admit I am entirely new to ebooks so I'm not too sure how stuff like this works, if there's licensing issues or if I can just pick them up off of amazon.com once I have a kindle. Since WoT is the main reason I'd be purchasing an ebook reader (I do a lot of traveling and would rather not lug around 13 (14 in 2012!) books, half of which are hardcovers, if I …

In The Great Hunt, ch9, Bayle Domon is in Illian. He thinks of his possessions, amongst which is an ivory carving of a man holding a sword. He says that the seller told him that it feels warm holding it, but it does nothing of the kind to Bayle. I wonder... have we heard anything afterwards about this item? He probably lost it to Turak when the Spray got captured by the Seanchan. Could this be a male angreal or sa'angreal? Could it be the strong male sa'angreal Lanfear mentions (next to Callandor and the Choedan Kal)?

Doing a reread of WoT and at the very beginning of EotW something struck me... It reminded me of this scene from ToM with Graendal: Only Aginor and Balthamel were free at the time since they were the closest to the surface of LT's seal and of course Ishamael since he was never really sealed properly. So I'm thinking, based on the fact that Aginor/Bal. didn't expect Rand and co. at the Eye, they must not have been tracking him. Additionally, Ishy was actively tracking them as he mentions in their dream/nightmares in TAR. So could this raven be Ishamael doing the TP trick Graendal used in ToM? I realize that this is really not that big a deal in the "b…

As we all know, RJ used alot of real world "parallels". The book Fog and Steel (Madoc Comadrin) might have something to do with The Art of War (?)etc. So I wondered, is there any known real world book that inspired The Way of the Light? Personally, I would just like to read it. I just started reading Introduction to Scientology Ethics, which kind of reminded me of Mantelar's book.

Why has NOBODY used an indestructible substance that can stop the One Power to make armor or a shield? Perhaps Egwene hasn't had time yet or something (implausible anyhow, she makes it super fast--should at least get the warders geared out), or perhaps armor counts as a weapon as far as the oaths are concerned, but folks in the Age of Legends might have wanted to think about that instead of making goblets of heartstone. Should I just chalk this up to how, generally, nobody in Randland uses magic at all sensibly? Or was this explained away somehow?

I have recently finished the whole WoT book series [to date] (audio from audible.com, and a little off topic but i LOVE the readers, they do a fantastic job), and I was wondering how the release dates of the text and audio books have panned out in the past... Do they come out at the same time, do I have to wait a month or two after the text comes out to get the audio version? Thanks for your help!

While I know my choices, I wanted to get a feel for what the community thinks are the best and worst books in the series. Make sure to comment on why you feel the way you do about each choice and if you have the time, also what your second favorite book was along with the reason for it My favorite book in the series is the Knife of Dreams. Why? 1)The book begins with an incredibly intense sword fight between blademasters(Galad has the skill if not the title at the beginning). Then he goes on to lead the Children- I can't see a better thing happening than the fanatic Whitecloaks being led by someone with a little common decency and honor that lacks the zealotry …

I saw in another thread the mention that the Nym is a very old soul. Could one of the mains become the new nym? My thought is maybe this will be perrin? After all he is, as some have interpreted by some from the foresaken prochecies, supposed to die. Any thoughts on this? I would throw up a quote but I am having trouble with no books until my moving boxes arrive.

How does tying off weaves work? Once they are tied off do they still exact a toll on who first made them? The reason I am wondering how they work is why the rebel Aes Sedai never think to tie off weaves of their globes of light they all learn to make when they are novices instead of complaining of the shortage of lamp oil and candles. They could raise a lot of gold by tying off these weaves of light and attaching them to objects and selling them to the general populace who would love to save on lamp oil. Of course they could tie off gateways and make a mint on travel related businesses not to mention freighting.

Theory: Perrin comes to 'save' the dying Rand, and Nynaeve cures death, using Logain's body in some way, possibly a man with two souls type of thing and the DR faces the DO as the "BROKEN Champion". This assumes that the Dark Prophecy at the end of ToM is accurate and that Rand does not fake his death. Evidence: The Dark prophecy: "Yea, and the BROKEN Wolf, the one whom DEATH HAS KNOWN shall fall and be consumed by the MIDNIGHT TOWERS. And his destruction shall bring fear and sorrow to the hearts of men, and shall shake their very will itself"... This implies that this event occurs prior to the final confrontation/defeat of the DO. Otherwise there…

What do you think will happen to the characters after Tarmon Gai'don/the series' end, assuming they survive? My guesses: Rand - The newfound euphoria of having three wives will fade once he meets his two mother-in-laws and Min's three aunts. Not to mention having six toddlers to parent (Elayne's twins and Avi's quadruplets). Soon, Rand will often have "pressing matters" to attend to in the Aiel Waste. - Doesn't seem to care much about Illian, so that throne will probably go to somebody else. Mat - Will be Tuon's Prince-Consort and amass a huge personal fortune from gambling with various Seanchan nobles. Perrin - Min's viewing about a broken crown hints…

We know so little about how the 13/13 works where a channeler is "forced to the DO" by 13 Aes Sedai and 13 Fades, but what if one or more of the Forsaken was/is 13/13d? We know that being 13d basically removes or suppresses all the good in a person, and enhances/brings forward a person's bad habits/qualities. So, I know Lews Therin has always thought that Lanfear was a bit of a power (Power?) hungry person, but is it possible that she's even MORE that way now because of being 13d? I dunno, something about Cyndane's expression in the end of ToM makes me think maybe it's her good side trying to get through in T'A'R. Is it possible that the good side of a person is…

I know it's silly to suggest that every character in a fantasy work speak with a classical English accent but there's nothing that will draw me out of a fantasy world quicker then having a character speak in an American accent. It just seems...wrong. I was very appreciative of the fact that Peter Jackson went to great lengths to have the actors in his films trained to speak in very medieval sounding English accents. I've noticed that WOT sports of number of accents that relate it's various regions. Some are quite Scottish sounding, others almost French (for some reason the way the Seanchean speech is described, in my head it almost sounds Middle Eastern). Mod…

If I wanted to sneak backstage at a rock concert I would need to divert the back door guard's attention somehow. The best way would be for a few hundred people causing a commotion at the front door. I think that this is what Rand (who is being influenced more and more by Lews Therin) had in mind when he went to visit the White Tower. He practically dared the Amyrlin Seat to meet with him at the front door at a specific time. The snowball effect is drawing huge armies from every direction like mosquitoes to a bug zapper. The Shadow is bound to notice. My guess is that this was a planned decoy. Lews Therin did not plug the bore with hundreds of thousands of gro…

In my recent reread Tuon only Proclaimed "Matrim Cauthon is my husband" twice. I thought that to complete the marriage she had to say it three times. Now that Mat is The Prince of the Ravens, does he get to choose a new name? If so He should declare his new name Mat Cauthon and put an end to Fortuona calling him Matrim.

Here are some examples The Aes Sedai ring http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ouroboros (note the cyclical nature that is basically the theme of RJ's books Egwene's initial dream ring. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobius_Strip Sa'angreal http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Holy_Grail The Dark One http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shaitan I've noticed a LOT more but forgotten them, including storylines that I SWEAR seemed similar to stuff that I've read regarding both the Persian Empire, as well as other biblical references to boot. The plan is simple: Why not send the Randland equivalent of bloodknives into the Seanchan ranks, whether through gateways or by crossing borders on foot- spies who have one and only one purpose in the Seanchan controlled lands. Collar every single sul'dam they can find as covertly as possible and move on before they are found leaving behind a trail of horrified Seanchan people(non-channelers) to find their supposedly honored sul'dam to be no less "revolting" than the damane they handle. It would be a two-fold blow: firstly the very people in charge of the damane(sul'dam) would get a taste of their own medicine as well as be incapacitated by the truth of their ability …

At least one person has had their account accidentally disabled this week because I saw a spam thread from the index and I went after the last person who posted before I looked at the thread. It's a pain in the butt for both of us if I do this. So if you see spam, ignore it. The mods are pretty quick about removing it. And also don't respond if you see some moron respond to a spam thread because he doesn't know what it is. Your samurai like self discipline in this matter is greatly appreciated.

So I heard a while back (middle 2010 is when I found out) that Universal had the rights to make a Wheel Of Time film based on Eye Of The World. This was announced a while, maybe a year and a half ago. Does anyone know anything about this? Is it still in development? Because I, personally, would like a film series. I know some fans probably wouldn't, but it would get a lot more people interested in the WoT universe. Usually, film adaptions of books get me into the books (Legend Of The Seeker, Game Of Thrones etc...) but WoT looked very interesting and right now I'm on the 2nd book. Kinda rambling now, but any news as of late on the status of it?
