  1. Started by Twitchy,

I was searching around for a topic that discusses Fain, and couldn't find one, so decided to make my own. As RJ said, Fain is unique to this Age, this leads me to believe that he will be instrumental in the Last Battle, key word here being Last. Personally, I think that Fain will somehow lead to the final and eternal death of Shai'tan, leading to, in a sense "breaking" the Wheel of Time into a linear timeline, similar to our reality. I mean, what's the point of writing this whole epic series to have the whole thing forgotten again, with no actual ending to the battle between the Creator and the Dark One. Something is unique to this turning of the Wheel, and Padan…

Ok, ladies and gentlemen, I have finished the story - FINALLY! - and here are my thoughts and my rating. (Everything is from my opinion and not to be taken as a generally held opinion - also, you might be offended by my post since I do not like the way Brandon Sanderson writes. I apologize for that in advance but I feel like I have to let some of my disappointment steam out of my system)) My thoughts - in general The story really feels like a new story with borrowed content. There are a lot of story lines that get solved/ended - quickly, which is nice. This is also the first novel in the series which feels like a completely new story/book. Jordan has, in my opini…

Hey all. This is my first post! I hope this is the right place to post this. So I'm on my first read though of the WoT, and I just finished Winter's Heart last week (Omg! What an awesome ending!). My friends who convinced me to start this series consistently tell me that Crossroads of Twilight is a terrible book. I hear Rand is barely in it so I'm preparing for that. What do you think? No spoilers please! :)

Since I've now opened thread requests, I decided it would be alright to exploit my mighty admin powers and create a thread for myself. In any case I did this last time, and people seemed to enjoy it, so hopefully I might provide some fun again. It will contain full spoilers. General Thoughts I loved this book. It was epic and exciting and sad and brilliant and complex and subtle and potent and cohesive and smooth and rough and just plain chock full of awesome. People have been varied about which they like better--the Gathering Storm or Towers of Midnight. I like Towers better--in fact I'd probably say that Towers of Midnight is now my second favourite book …

RJ said This made me think. He was obviously referring to the Gardners when he said "on this side of the Aryth Ocean". I would think that it would be extremely interesting if either Toun or perhaps her pet damane Mylen bonded Hartha. A Death Watch Gardner would make an awesome Warder. The idea of seeing these hulking Ogier moving with a Warders speed and grace would be a truly terrifying sight to many. Any thoughts.

I think it is WEIRAMON. NO I AM NOT JOKING! He is constantly an idiot but can you think of a better disguise. he is in a position of power, but no one will let him use it because he is such a loose cannon. Remember that he and Dashiva are tasked with keeping an eye on Rand. Remember how many times he is sent away then returns without permission. He is always pristine when everybody else is covered with mud and blood. POD He reacts out of charactor only one time that I can find. Path of Daggers Pages 537-539 speaking to Gedwyn showing that he is not only not an idiot but a darkfriend of considerable authority. His last words are "Kill who ever you wish, where ever…

Not sure if this has been discussed, but when reading ToM, it seems that there are inconsistancies as to where Tam is. In one chapter he's with Perin, then he's with Rand, then he's back with Perin, then Rand's sent him back to the Two Rivers. Is this error just a product of Brandon haivng to rearrange the chapters after the book was split in three? Or is this intentional? Is one of the Tam's a fake?

Heya, this is my first time posting but i had to ask this... I haven't searched extensively so excuse me if this has been proposed a zillion times before but in the prologue of ToM, in the part where Fain is cruising through the Blight, he creates some zombies to put it bluntly. Kills the trollocs and turns them into Zombies... Could it be possible that this is what the prophecy is talking about when it says that Rand has to die to live? MAYBE, Fains part to play in the last battle it to turn Rand into Zombie Rand, 'Killing him' and then using him against the DO/pattern to cause an awful upset? dunno how Alivia is going to help this happen, maybe by not stopping i…

Just finished my first re-read and this time Perrin's wound was something that stood out to me, something I overlooked the first time. He describes his wound as still aching and throbbing after the fight with Slayer in the wolfdream. Despite being healed directly after waking up, he still feels the wound which in my opinion indicates that it aint any normal wound. Slayer could have imagined poisen on the arrow tip but that should have been healed aswell. The whole thing just reminds me of the two wounds in Rand's side. Maybe Slayer hunts wolfs for a reason; to turn them into Darkhounds(darkhounds was wolfs once if Im not mistaken). Perhaps thats what Perrin is fee…

I've noticed not a lot of new threads get started here, so I thought I would take a moment to add one that might be interesting that I haven't seen before. With the addition of gateways and crazy combat weaves, plus Mat's crossbows and gunpowder, what kind of cool combat tactics do you think we can look forward to? J

One of the things I haven't truly been able to pin down as true or false is the rumor that the Salidar Aes Sedai use against the White Tower sisters; the "fact(?)" that all false Dragons in history, from Guaire Amalasan to Logain Ablar, were used by the Tower to extend their own influence (political, societal, militarily, etc.). Ishamael obviously has spoken of this as well, before it was used as a psychological tactic. From what I can tell, Logain is quite obviously lying to the Altaran and Amadician nobles brought to him in Salidar to tell his tale, about sisters approaching him and inciting him to declare himself the Dragon. This doesn't rule out the others, t…

I'm doing a re-read over my ridiculously long Christmas break, and I've been noticing some amazing passages that make my think, "Wow, RJ was such an incredible writer." Just wanted to know what some of your favorite passages in the books were, if you can remember them. I'll start off with the one that made me want to make this topic. Previously in the chapter, "Whirlpools in the Pattern" in the Shadow Rising, Perrin and Mat had fought off bubbles of evil after thinking about how much everything has changed, and whether they can still consider Rand to be their friend, as well as the Dragon Reborn. This paragraph ends the chapter after Rand had just fought of…

Hi, I am not really sure if this has been discussed before but I seem to have read Cadsuane lying. In p.748 chapter 51. Cadsuane denied knowing about a paralis-net. I know she isn't a darkfriend since she isn't blinded nor discomforted in any way by Rand's inner light like Weiramon and that lord in Maradon. My question I guess is, does anyone know if Cadsuane has found a way around the three oaths? Had she made the three oaths at all?

So I don't have many quotes or passages looked up to support any of these ideas. Its been a few years since I have posted on here.. (I'm thinking around 6) but since finishing ToM I have been thinking about how things are going to work out. I looked around to see if anyone has posted these ideas, but I am probably the only one stupid enough to think of it. So here it is. What if Callandor was a Sa'Angreal for the ta'veren effect. It would explain why Callandor is "flawed" because it is not designed to be used with the OP. It would possibly be a reason why no one but Rand could touch it at first, and the reason why it is paramount to the success of the light at the La…

So is it nothing short of a miracle that NO ONE save a handful of people still know that the Horn is within the White Tower itself (and therefore not yet recovered by an evildoer), whereas almost every other single carefully guarded secret has eventually come out (like people speaking to Rand in his head)?

  23. In Lord of Chaos, when Graendal and Sammael are meeting, they mention Demandred and how he "always liked to use proxies." Well, a proxy is defined as a person authorized to act for another. Directly after recalling this (that D likes to use proxies), Sammael says he won't have Demandred or "his friends" in the south getting in his way. Isn't the Black Tower in the south? This is all just after Rand started the farm and put Taim in charge. Therefore, based on this, it is pretty undeniably clear (at least to me) that Taim is Demandred's servant, acting for him. Now, taking that in mind, it seems that whenever Taim uses the power, he grins (almost in a sort o…

I was just wondering, while we do learn who were the true parents of Rand, That means he is Andorean nobility since his mother was daughter-heir. Is that fact only known to the reader? It doesn't seem like Rand himself has realized it or any other character for that matter. Has Mr.Sanderson given any hints concerning a possible revelation of that fact in the following books? I would love to read Elayne's reaction upon hearing that.

We know now, or seem to know, what the Borderlander army was/is up to. But what about those 13 Aes Sedai? I fairly doubt it's just coincidence. Maybe it's just a little trick of the Shadow that didn't work out very well for them ; were they meant to scare Rand away from the army, and cause by that a little more chaos. Any thoughts?
