Remember this?? http://www.steelypips.org/wotfaq/ Leigh Butler used to manage this amazing document, and now our very own Jason seems to be taking it over! Can I hear a woot-woot?!?! The FAQ unfortunately never got updated for "Knife Of Dreams"...such a shame because I know so many peeps used it to cathc-up between new books and to refresh their memories. I personally found it invaluable and would love to see an updated version. Any word on this? Jason? Will we ever see it updated, and when? Thanks!

Just finishing up reading The Fires of Heaven again, and have to say that in the whole series Pevin is probably my favorite side character. Odd I know considering he says almost nothing and appears rarely, but there's just something about him (maybe his only remaining beliefs in the world of the Dragon being reborn, the last battle is coming, and that being near the Dragon will give him vengeance) that I can't help wishing he'd lived to continue at his post as Bannerman for Rand.

So we know that Rand is tall even within the Aiel (I think). He's certainly tall for a wetlander. I imagine him about 6ft6in but built well enough over the shoulders that he doesnt look lanky. (sigh ::) :P). Mat, is sometimes noted to be a bit shorter than Rand, but i've never imagined him short. Perrin I imagine is about the same as Mat, but well-built so as to appear stocky with the muscles et al. However, in bk 11, towards the end, we have a few size-comparisons that confuse me a little. When Faile is rescued from the collapsing building by Rolan and his two friends, she comments in her POV that one of the men is 'not quite as tall as Perrin but twice …

Read the Question and answer accordingly... ::) ------------------------- I would like to think that if the Light wins this time. They win for good. Any other idea is just playing Russian roulette with your self; but you need to keep pulling the trigger till time finds the bullet.

Sounds like a stupid question but hear me out. We read multiple times that these battles have been going on over and over again as the wheel turns. Hints that the light has even lost and clues that the light has one. What makes this turning of the wheel any different? What if Rand wins. Seals the DO away. Wheel turns and it all repeats its self. We have also read that this time the serpent will be slain bla bla bla time will die DO making the world in his image. These Last battles seem to have been going on for along time what makes this one any more last?

I really like the WoT books, but I think the cover art is subpar for so great a series. DKS's style works for a series like Xanth but not, IMO, in a more mature series. If I had to chose a new artist, I would pick whoever does the covers of the Robin Hobb's The Tawny Man and Soldier Son trilogies. Who would you choose? Here are two examples Renegade's Magic http://www.amazon.com/Renegades-Magic-Soldier-Trilogy-Book/dp/0060757647/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1240341197&sr=1-2 Golden Fool http://www.amazon.com/Golden-Fool-Tawny-Man-Book/dp/0553582453/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1240341008&sr=1-6

So is he? We've all been told through out the books that when a warders Aes Sedai dies he lose all will to live. So is Lan suffering from “bond breaking emotional trauma”? Well I'm not sure. We know that Moiraine didn't die, though some/most may argue that the way the bond broke constitutes the same thing. But what if the bond didn't break? Right before Moiraine pushes Lanfear through the ter'angreal we have this passage “she forced him [Lan] out of here mind ... she had long since done what she could too see that he survived his lone war with the Shadow.” Couldn't this be Moiraine passing the bound to Myrelle? All the pain and suffering Lan been feeling …

Does the Stone of Tear have a described shape? I've been checking TDR over and over, and I can't seem to find some description about its shape. Does it resemble a tear, for instance?

Has anyone ever wondered where they come from? They have them--they have dreams, and in this world at least dreaming is the function of the soul. Whats more is that we know that there is a difference between animal and human souls, and the souls of the shadowspawn--by which i mean the Trollocs, Myrdraal, gholam and Draghkar, seem to be in the same form as human souls. This could be the defining difference between what we call shadowspawn--Aginor's creations that are used as the Shadow's armies--and the monsters of the blight, which are also Aginor's creations, just not used, and seemingly without the same... sentience. If this is the case it means that Trollocs…

Do we have any indication at all of if/when the prologue will be released, perhaps electronically? I know there is a synopsis available here in the forums but I can't force myself to read that...I want the real thing! Thanks :)

Just noticing how everyone seems to have mat as one of their top 3 characters? He's the embodiment of the gentleman scoundrel trope. I was wondering if there are some people out there who don't like him. Could you please say why if you don't like him as well.

I was just re-reading Knife of Dreams and the scene just after Loial gets married where the Trollocs attack in a massive number...and Rand/LTT uses all these new weaves to attack them (Blossoms of Fire and Deathgates). It made me think what an awesome thing the One Power is and then made me wonder about what everyone's favorite weave was so far. A Keeping? Rolling Ring of Earth and Fire? the Warder bond? Healing? which version? eavesdropping? wards? and so on and so on. I'll refrain from saying mine upfront, but I was curious.

In the great hunt chapter Whatcher Moiraine tells Lan that she has arranged the bond to moved to Myrelle once she is dead. She arranged it before leaving the tower, way before she met Nynaeve. But when Egwene speaks to Myrelle when she and Siuan discover her, Myrelle mention that she had insctructions that the bond was to be passed on to Nynaeve when the time was right. As I recall Moiraine doesn't meet Myrelle again before she dies so we can rule out verbal communication. The Green ajah was represented by Allanah in Shienar during tGH. Do you think Moiraine would have taken herself time to write a letter to Myrelle with these instructions? I'm having a hard tim…

Here's something I'm curious on, in my re-read, that I was thinking about earlier. Egwene has a dream of Mat weighing two Aes Sedai on a balance scale, and something big, the fate of the world perhaps, was involved. Who are these Aes Sedai? I'd always thought it was Joline and Teslyn, but the wording it seems to be that each one is on one side of the scale, and that doesn't fit them really. At least to me. And Edesina is with them as well so it's not just two, really. These are pretty much a core group in spite of Teslyn protecting Mat and Joline being a major sulky biatch sort. Anyway. Who do you think? I was thinking of options and thought it co…

As Elgee has suggested elsewhere, I'm starting a poll. If you are perfectly OK with Tor's decision, then vote "Yes". If you think that Tor should have given more consideration to RJ's dying wish and handled this situation differently (publish a one-volume AMoL, publish all the volumes at the same time under the title RJ had in mind for his last book and sell them together or whatever) then vote "No". If you don't really care what Tor decides to do with AMoL, then, naturally, you can vote "I don't care". Thanks for participating.

Let's take the three forsaken that have been defeated for a time. First there is Moghedien captured by Nynaeve. I always thought Moghedien was the poorest of the women forsaken. She wasn't very good with the power and would rather wait in the shadows until the battle was over or untill (she thought) she had the upperhand. To me, Nynaeve was perfect to be her captor. Nynaeve is very strong in the power but very naive to any Aes Sedai skills. She needed brute force, and a lot of luck to make up for her ignorance. Now we have Lanfear and Moirainne. Classic two women at the height of their game and they go down swinging together. The ultimate catfight. Too bad it wa…

Who do you see as the most attractive female character in the forces of light and dark, for personality and looksand, why. For me Min wins both personality and looks. Mostly cause she seems to be the only one able to take a joke, without getting angry. I think osan' gar or aran'gar(I dont remember which is the female), wins looks. And Greandel wins looks. She seem more deviant than the others

I know that Ingtar (sp?) came back to the light in Falme, but it seems like no other Darkfriends have or are likely to. Did I miss anyone? Are there any Darkfriends who seem like they might turn to the light? What about vice versa?

...I can't seem to reread the series again. I have been a fan of tWoT since I found a few of the books at the store over a decade ago. To date, it is still my favorite series. I have read it between 15-20 times, but now I get to the part between White Bridge and Caemlyn in tEotW and I just stop reading. Anyone else out there having trouble reading it? Maybe I should invest in the cd's.

So I had a thought today, and I wanted to present it to everyone. Mostly everyone when they were younger would fantasize what it would be like to be their favorite super hero. They would draw pictures of them, act like them, collect comics, watch movies about them, dress up as them for Halloween as them, and day dream about them. Super heroes like Superman, Spiderman, Batman, Wolverine, etc.. I read the Wheel of time when I was around 13 or 14. I didn't dress up as Super man or any of the regulars. I would dress up as an Asha'man for Halloween. I would imagine fighting crooks with the One Power (ex. Flame sword). Nobody had any clue what I was talking abou…

OK, this thread is just for fun. Lets say you are in Randland, and you have everything at your disposal from all the militaries in the world today. What method would you use to kill all Shadow creatures in the Blight, and destroy the Blight itself? Take into account that if you use nuclear weapons it would affect the rest of the world, and etc. You would also have satellites and everything at your disposal. Really anything can be used, both men and material, but it can't be like the Death Star or anything form the future (in other words anything from sci-fi). Also remember that if you want to invade the Blight with like 10 million Chinese troops you must have th…

As we know only wild animals are in the world of dreams. (except wolves and dream walkers ect.) As we also know if you get cut (or killed) in the world of dreams you get cut... or killed... So my question. What happens to the wild animals there? If you kill a bird in the WOD (world of dreams) does it die in the real world? Because when your break inanimate objects (vases ect) they become, unbroken. same thing with lions and birds? I dont think there are any examples of wild animals getting killed. Do they flicker back into existence or just fall dead in the real world.

Several years ago I was in Hong Kong and saw a several of the Wheel of Time books with more simplistic covers. They were all mass market paperback sized, and I was not in a position to purchase them at that time. However I am now considering purchasing the entire series (again, but would prefer to have the covers I found back then. Basically, if I recall correctly, each book was a solid color, and had the common icon (two dragons and the wheel) in the center embossed on each, though I may be mistaken as to that, they may have each had a seperate icon like those at the start of each chapter. Does anyone know where these came from, and by chance where I might be…

Hi All. I am sure this has been covered before but I couldn't work out what to type into the search box to look. What is the lace of the One Power that Perrin's group sees in the sky in WH? I believe that the Asha'man and Aes Sedai could feel it.
