Hi everyone, firstly I will mention that I have only just finished a Crown of Swords, so no spoilers if you can help it please. I am a big fan of the WoT books so far, but a fair few times I have noticed things I would suggest are plot holes, or at least that there are times when characters act irrationally and in a way just doesn't make sense compared to the alternatives, or don't do something that seems pretty obvious. Often it is just keeping a secret that there is no need to keep. There are a ton of examples on this great list, especially "in the why don't they just" section, with plenty I missed completely: http://abbygoldsmith.com/wot/been_nice.shtml The…

In the companion it says that Bela survived after all and is retired in the field. Did they say why they changed her fate? In my opinion, Rand was supposed to ride off into the sunset on the back of Bela, so whether she actually lived or not is pointless because that event didn't happen.

It has been said that a channeler could not balefire or Heal itself. What if the channeler looks into a mirror and direct the flows towards the mirror's image? It has been said that flying could not be done with the One Power. Yet Egwene as flown in Tel'aran'rhiod at times, and Rand fought Ishmael in the sky. Rand's situation might be explained by each lifting the other, like Nynaeve and Siuan did to each other. If Egwene's flying is not with the One Power, then how did she do it? Can a warder bond pass to the warder? Or can a channeler bond itself? Just theoretically asking.

Recently I stumbled across this. http://mentalfloss.com/article/26346/jk-rowlings-plot-spreadsheet It's a plot spreadsheet for the fifth Harry Potter book, Order of the Phoenix. I could be wrong but I seem to recall that one was posted here for WoT once. Sadly I cannot find it anywhere. Was it posted or was I imagining things? And if it was posted could someone please link me to it? These things are awesome and it's really cool to see how these stories are mapped out.

Good to see the companion is out. Sad to think this is officially the last book. Questions left unanswered: Confirmed Verin sent Alanna north and was captured, but was it a setup? Who ordered the farm attack How exactly did Ishy use Jain How exactly was Asmo killed, RJ said it was the how and where he died that made it impossible to be brought back. Questions finally answered or confirmed: When Taim became a DF Why he went to recruit in the Two Rivers The Fate of Thom nephew, why he was gentled on the spot. Why Jain was in Ebou Dar Why Graendel was is Camylen when she ran into Asmo. Nice to see a breakdown of Cas's Angreal

We are all think that the Dream is about the Forsaken, right? So I red that a lot of people think that the tower, that is higher than the others is Ishamael/Moridin . But we all know that the Dreams are about what may happen not about what happened... What if the higher tower is Mesaana? She is closer to destruction after Shadar Logoth , but if she succeed in the White Tower she will be higher than the others...Its just regular "what if"...It will be interesting to hear what you think. PS : I'm sorry for my English.

I wanted to do some fun statistical analyses on all the inns and boats in the Wheel of Time series (currently read through Dragon Reborn, book 3). Is there a list of the names of inns and boats anywhere? I noticed many inns/boats in book three and I figured I'd ask before attempting to make a list myself. Cheers!

Hi Everyone, This book series was just introduced to me and I want to buy the eBook version. But there is a difference between the amazon.com and amazon.nl editions. ( have no US address and cannot buy from Dragonmount). I want to order from the Dutch Amazon but there is a difference in the book number. The Dutch version has only Dynamite 1.5 in the top left corner? Does anyone have any idea? Thanks, Rose

Not sure if this has been discussed before, but I noticed something odd about the world of the WoT. Why is it that the Aiel Waste and Shara are some hot when they are at the same longitude as the lands west of the Dragon Wall, yet the heat and dryness are absent everywhere in the west. I know it's only fantasy series, but unless this world rotates at an odd angle, the Aiel wastes and Shara should have similar temperatures and weather patterns as the west, right? It should be like Earth, where it gets hotter closer to equator, not simply by going east and running into massive deserts. Anyways, just my two cents on this observation.

Does anyone have ideas on them, the bubbles of evil. I had concocted a theory, but do you have a better one? There was one on the fourth book, then from the seventh semiregularly. I think there was mention of such in the sixth book too, rumours that had to have been that. I had a theory that they couldn't be all random as per Moiraine's explanation, I don't have anything to substantiate that though. What do you all think?

This is how I see the ranking from strongest to weakest. Its not based on 21 levels or something. Just the first in the line is stronger than the second and goes on like that... Female: Lanfear/Alivia/Cyndane/Graendal/Sharina/Someryn(?)/Nynaeve/Semirhage/Talaan/Mesaana/Moghedien/Tamela/Viendre/Egweene/Elayne/ Aviendha/Bode/Cadsuan/Nikola/Kerene/Meylin/ Male: Rand(LTT)/Ishamael(Moridin)/Aginor/Demandred/Sammael/Rahvin/Logain/Taim/Balthamel/Be'laal/Asmodean

SPOILER ALERT If you haven't read as far as book 3, the Dragon Reborn, leave now. Ok. I'm reading where Perrin, Moiraine, Lan, Loial and Zaine are heading through Illian. They pass through the Bridge of Flowers and the Perfumed Quarter, and go into an inn called Easing the Badger. Both of those names are really familiar, but I can't place them. Were there areas in another town with the same names, were they from a dream, or is it something else? Why do I recognize these names?

We're finally getting the dictionary but I hope that's not the end. Just some ideas for books I'd enjoy: RJ Biography Letters "Reader" of errata not included in the dictionary & other RJ writings, like articles & such Essays about WOT from different perspectives (literary analysis, historical parallels, philosophy etc.) More comics!!! Inexpensive trade paperback edition of the old Companion with good black & white line drawings replacing the garish originals Book of maps Illustrated editions :) The "complete" Ebook lacks Strike At Shayol Ghul & Ravens :P But makes space for a few chapters from some Brandon Sanderson book . . . not kosher…

SPOILERS I’ve just finished!! I started this series when I was an adolescent 10 years ago but stopped reading at book 10 or 11. I recently got back into reading in a big way so I smashed the series out in two months :D Here are my thoughts on the series, I’m sure they’ve all been heard before but I just need to get them out there. Brandon did a great job. It was always going to be tough pulling a whole universe like WoT together, you see it in projects like this all the time, they are so ambitious and then they don’t know how to finish it. The writing improved with Brandon too, although overall the characters maybe lost a bit of depth. Robert Jordan’s…

Reading book 4 Shadow Rising last night I reached chapter 24 Rhuidean and started wondering if the city possibly represented Washington DC or some other American city. I'm sure i am not the first person to ask this question. At some point Rand and Mat are traveling towards the center of the city and take notice that there are a lot of Red, White, and Blue monuments. There seemed to be plenty of marble greek monuments, and possible the layout of Rhuidean is the same layout as DC. If it wasn't for the comment about the Red, White, and Blue monuments I probably wouldn't be writing this. To be clear each monument was Red, White, or Blue as opposed to each one containing a…

In chapter 4 of AMoL, when Androl and Pevara jump Dobser, Emarin has Pevara loosen the weaves preventing Dobser from hearing them. At the end of his spiel, he asks Pevara "He cannot hear what we say?" To which she replies "no." Even though this is a ruse, it is still an untruth, and should not be able to be spoken due to the restriction of the Three Oaths. I'm inclined to think this is a slip up in the writing, but I thought it would make for interesting conversation. This scene takes place on page 131 of the hardcover version, and 150 of the paperback.

So just how long has this been happening? Did some searches on the interwebs about the topic, not much of a bit. 1. aMoL it is made blatantly apparent that time is skewed around Rand. 2. ToM it is hinted at, he gives Egwene a month, but states he has very little time and we are given not much description of that "one month" from his perspective. 3. CoT/KoD it could already be happening, he is stationary for what seems like a very long time, but that is just brushed off as his recovering from the Cleansing. Anywho, it is just something that nags at me every so often. Any thoughts?

So? Where were you when you first opened the pages of that first book? I remember i was sitting at my desk in my room on a sunny winter's morning. Having just come home from the bookstore. Skipping the contents and various "dedicated to..." 's i read those first lines. How about you?

I'm just curious - is "the void" based on anything from the real world? I know a little about meditation and it sounds a bit similar, but not exactly. Thanks for any input!

Hey I am re-reading the series again for the third time trying to get ready for the upcoming releases and I find myself absorbing alot more interesting little side details this time through. Being a musicina I have always loved the emphasis Jordan placed on the characters musical pursuits and the recurring ideas of folk songs by different names and different tunes etc. But anywasy I noticed today in chapter twelve of the Fires of Heaven in the second page he remarks about an instrument called the 12 string bittern. Coincedentally enough I play pretty much exclusively 12 stering acoustic guitar so my interest was piqued. However upon searching wikipedia and google and what…

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone here actually owns the official Ashaman pin that is sold by Badali Jewellery (http://badalijewelry.com/Wheel-of-Time-Pins/). Was hoping for a bit of a review on what it is like, how durable it is, notable differences between the bronze/silver/gold editions etc. Nearly finished another re-reading of the series and I'm in the mood to purchase something to cement my love of the series :P
