I think you're reading too deeply into the situation.  I simply known that pickle juice is a proven deterrent of bees and as such am utilizing it to improve my chances of safety.

But Ick, the bees are all safely ensconced within Boyo's meaty fists. Granted, they are most likely enraged by being so constrained, but that's his problem more than it is yours. You should be worrying about the letters N - they stalk ye even now!
